I Watched The Oscars So You Didn’t Have To

I watched the Oscars last night so you didn't have to! We had an indigenous land acknowledgement, honoring of the sex worker community, a surprisingly wholesome speech, and plenty of woke and awkward moments. Let’s talk about it.

Didn’t a number of these actors promise that they would move out of this country if Trump was elected president?

Morgan Freeman. A great, successful "black" actor.
How to "end racism" he was asked:
"STOP TALKING ABOUT IT"
He must squirm every time these lesser actors preach...in front of him. A truly great actor....who does not announce his race or colour.
His acting speaks for itself.

It’s crazy the way they prop up sex workers when so many people are trafficked and forced into sex working it’s a big slap into the face of them

As Mr. Ricky Gervais once said:
“Accept your award, thank your God, thank your agent, then f*** off.”

Honoring sex work is insane.
It's probably the most damaging profession.

Rubbing it in their faces that they lost their land while celebrating how rich and privileged they are. Is next level trolling 😂😅

I deadass didn't even know the Oscars happened last night. It's only this morning I'm hearing about it.

Would've been a good year to give the $200K gift bag to victims of fires or the indigenous people they "acknowledge", but dont know or really care abt

Prostitution is NOT "the oldest profession": it's the oldest OPPRESSION and it harms ALL WOMEN

In my opinion. In a world of Adrien Brody’s be a Neal McDonough who won’t even kiss another woman on screen at all out of respect for his wife. Stating his lips are meant for her. What a man!

I loved seeing Kieran Culkin be so loving, affectionate and excited to be a father. We don’t see enough men in media excited to be dads. Seeing this clip brought me great joy.

I can't belive Emilia Perez won something. Zoe talking about how her grandma would be proud and talking about her spanish, when literally any real latino would be embarrassed of that movie (and we are). The spanish in that movie was horrible. We, as latinos, are not proud of a movie that disrespects us. Made by people that know nothing about us, our culture, or our languaje. Zoe, Selena, and everyone that worked on Emilia Perez, you do not represent us.

If 3milia Pertz was so groundbreaking in its Spanish, why do SO MANY NATIVE SPANISH SPEAKERS MAKE FUN OF IT😂

I had a friend from childhood who grew up and became a stripper. She ended up in the hospital more than once from abuse and rape. It’s not a happy life!! I didn’t really know her as an adult. I talked to her once after not speaking to her for years. Her story was so sad and awful. 😢

Whilst I don’t think we should demonise s*x workers, I think it’s irresponsible not to portray the industry as one that is deeply exploitative and dangerous for women (and men)

The only 2 times in my life that I've watched clips from the Oscars was Ricky Gervias exposing the predators within, and Brendan Fraser winning an award after the Hell he'd been through.

Land acknowledgements are a slap in the face to indigenous people.

It’s no longer about the celebration of films like it once was. It’s now heavily on politics and woke agenda!

The land acknowledgement makes it sound like they just kicked out all of those people last week to have their ceremony.

The fact that a musical that features the lyrics “penis to vagina!” Now has an Oscar tells you all you need to know how far they have fallen.
