I can't believe you teach economics, you have a poor understanding of the events of 2008-2010

What a complete load of horseshit. Connor went to the same personal style consultant as Pierre I see. They could be twins. I love how he gaslights right from the very beginning, priming his guest to follow his intended anti-canadian rhetoric. These guys are so transparently self-serving. It is not hard to understand why the people got a little extreme during the French Revolution when faced with this level of pure arrogance and entitlement.

It is really difficult to take this guest speaker seriously and assign him any type of credibility when he makes errors about how the Canadian election process works. At the very least, he lacks intellectual curiosity about the topic he has been asked to speak about in this episode. If you are going to speak about about a topic and consider yourself an "expert" it might be a good idea to do some research about the topic first. Very startling to observe the ignorance of this old fart!

Great discussion James and Steve! He summed it up completely when he said the Liberals have built a bridge to nowhere. How can a government which has been in power for 10 years create zero economic growth. I just hope people in Ontario and Quebec have finally come to their senses

Canada's economy will not be crushed by Trump's tariffs. Recession will hit Canada but the nation's industry & workforce will hold.

I’m not sure how most recently being Chair of Brookfield Asset Management factors into Carney being a bureaucratic technocrat. Also why is GDP per capita taken as a be all and end all comparitor without reference to purchasing power equity and life expectancy? My understanding is pensions and retirement savings are not counted in GDP but retired population is used in the calculation. Aside from your guest’s expertise, Canadians are now living 3+ years longer than Americans according to OECD and I understand the death rate in the USA from COVID was about 3 times that of Canada, resulting in a one year reduction in American life expectancy. From the way he sneers at the Canadian military I assume he was with Rupert Murdoch cheering on truckers in Ottawa who peed on the grave of the unknown soldier. The ‘Canada is broken’ theme of the right has become toxic and will be the downfall of PP if he doesn't about face and show more leadership in disavowing Trump.

I'm surprised by how fast many Canadians forgot our standards of living were in a free fall before this dispute with the U.S.

Canada is united. That's our strength. Instead of complaining and division, we do the work. We can go through whatever trials we are facing. Elbows Up. 🇨🇦 🍁

This can’t be serious. Canada doesn’t need advice from these idiots.

The only way to win over Canada is to send military troops onto its territory. But Canada is sitting on natural resources that are still unquantifiable today. It is also a superpower in energy, the trump card of an industrialized country. It is a country that has invested heavily in education (4th best education in the world). Canada has allies, which the United States unfortunately no longer has. Even rich countries no longer trust Uncle Sam. The United States is seeing the response from the entire world and the hatred that motivates boycotts of its products. You can be the world's largest economy, but when there's no trust, there are no customers. Right now, the world is turning its back on Trump, and it's going to affect the country like never before. Believe me!

With all due respect to Steve. Some of the best countries in the world when it comes to education, quality of life, safety, health care, etc. Canada is right up U.S. is far down the list. So we must be doing something right.
