Puppy Raising | Episode 4 | The Journey of a Guide Dog

Our volunteer puppy raisers provide a guide dog puppy with the vital foundation for its future role as a guide dog, guiding him or her through initial training, socialisation, the introduction of new environments and experiences whilst providing a loving home. This video shows how our guide dog puppies develop at three different stages of their puppy raising journey, as they grow towards the next stage of their guide dog training.

I have just found the Guide Dogs channel, I'm crying tears of love and joy but also feeling so much admiration for all of you who raise these wonderful dogs, I have 15 years until retirement and I would love to get involved in helping to help another person. Please keep up the great work.

As a Puppy Raiser... this video should come with a warning, that currently 50% of puppies do not make the grade, because Guide Dogs rightly have incredibly high standards. I worked SO hard to make a Guide Dog, but a health condition meant he could not continue in their programme. The emotional roller coaster of a being a Puppy Raiser is so draining, but the potential to have created one of the 50% who do make it, is worth it!
