It actually makes complete sense that Edward can hold his breath so much longer when deep underwater vs right at the surface. All mammals have a biomechanism referred to as the "mammalian dive reflex, " which allows humans (and other mammals, of course) to hold their breath significantly longer once they pass a certain depth threshold. Some seriously freaky stuff starts happening, like your heart rate dropping to like 35 bpm and free fluid exchange in between your organs. This is how freedivers can just kind of walk along the bottom for aaages without seeming to have any need for air. It's pretty cool stuff, actually, I recommend looking it up.

I like the realistic nature of the game, assassins with heavy armors can’t stay under water for long but when diving without or with very light armor they can very well be underwater for longer duration, with Eivor being an exception.

The Nile river in AC Origins is soo beautiful. Swimming through the Nile with Bayek really feels surreal and even majestic at some point. Ubisoft really improved water graphics from AC Origins and onwards.

It's semi-logical for Edward to hold his breath longer when he's deep in the ocean compared when swimming on the ocean surface. His gear, clock and whatever ammunition, swords and firearms he has equipped adds weight, compared to when he's underwater, where his gear is completely removed except for his pants and bandana.

The reason why Adevale can spend more time underwater is because you lose health when you run out of oxygen and not just immediately die.. And health is not a constant variable, the player can increase their health points amount by upgrading. So, Adevale has the same lung capacity as Edward, it's just he has more HP at the start

Nonsense Altair is basically a marine animal underwater that’s why they couldn’t put it in the game because it would have been unfair.

The reason why going under the water to hide from an enemy is longer, is because if you are trying to hide just underneath the surface of water, you have to breathe out then go underneath. Breathing out makes you sink. This also makes it so you last for less time underwater because you have barely any air in your lungs.

I love Bayek, he’s my favorite character by far in the series. I cried at the ending to his main storyline. The buildup was fantastic
