Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro & Plus, Global Model Incoming! | TSW215

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus and the slightly more stripped-back 14 Pro should launch globally soon, bringing their upgraded camera tech, gaming prowess etc to the UK. For now here's a look at the Chinese versions of these mid-range smartphones, with obligatory knob gags and cursing.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 5G looks like one of the best phones around if you want premium specs for an affordable price. The Omnivision camera sensor and Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset are fresh tech, and only testing the review model will show how good they are. But Xiaomi's Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus is guaranteed to deliver excellent battery life, with its enormous cell with 90W charging.

For a bit less cash you'll have the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, which uses a familiar Sony camera sensor and the Dimensity 7300 Ultra. Gaming should be a breeze, just as it was on Motorola's Edge 50 Neo. And while the battery isn't as big, this HyperOS beast should still hopefully last you an intense day.

So, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus and the Note 14 Pro should be launching to a global market either at the end of 2024 or start of 2025. Tempted? Let us know below!

I WAS a Redmi fan. Last used, or rather, still using Redmi Note 10 Pro as a spare phone. I was aiming to get the Note 13 Pro Plus but the price went up really high. I got my old 10 pro around 250 USD and now I have to pay as much as 400 USD for an unnoticeable camera upgrade with loads of bloatware and annoying ads. It was supposed to be cheap because they could get additional revenue from their ads yet, they became more greedy. Settled for the Nothing Phone 2(a) since it was really near its price point.

I like Apple and Sony but damn is their greed showing a little bit with the PS5 Pro price tag and Apple's attempt at a camera button.

The sad thing is, that button would've been ideal if it had touch ID and if it behaved like the Xperia camera button by default; press and hold to launch the camera, press half way to autofocus, press all the way to shoot.

But no, instead it's double press to launch the camera, then let go, then hold down again and let go quickly to take a photo because if you hold it down too long it takes a video instead. And to get to the additional modes you still have to touch the screen....what's the point of using it to switch modes if to get to mode selection you have to touch the screen which already has a mode selection option on it?

It's also a weirdly anti-Apple move; Apple is meant to be the company that makes products that are efficient and easy to use and yet somehow they managed to add the one button that would've made the camera easier to use and instead made it harder to use than just using the touch screen and the volume up key.
