I've had a set of these for years. First built them to put jack stands on for extra height when removing an engine out the bottom. Now I use them for suspension component checks when suspension needs to be loaded.

What a great simple solution! One possible upgrade would be a 3rd 2x4 on the last vertical run (second to last set of 2x4s) so that the bottom of the tire shares some or even all of the weight. You could even attach a piece of plywood on top of the 3 2xs. Otherwise, the entire load is supported by those back-and-front 2x4 corners which are digging into the rubber and might possibly affect the tires.

Yep totally agree . This is why a four post lift is probably best if you have the room . Jacking up a car especially ones with low ground clearance is a pain .

I'm not at all familiar with vehicle work, so pardon my ignorance: how do you get the car up so high in the first place that you can even get the cribs under the tires? I didn't think floor jacks went that high, and I keep thinking you'd have to do one wheel at a time that way, which seems really dangerous?

Don't feel safe with Jack stands but holding wood with your feet while cutting and drilling with flip flops on🤷🏾‍♂️

If I do this will I be able to remove a subframe on a BMW ion like jack stands tbh

I doubt the car will be on there for long periods of time or that it would hold for weeks but that can cause the wires to stretch and also bubbles in the tire
