This is a true story song. Joe was a chronic alcoholic. He saw a lot of his friends die from excessive drinking, which led to Liver failure. . So he got himself clean. Although it left him with a few noticeable facial quirks. BUT IT DID NOT AFFECT HIS VOICE ANY OR HIS ABILITY TO PLAY GUITAR. HE WAS THE BEST SINGER WHEN HE WAS WITH THE EAGLES. BUT GAINED A LOT MORE POPULARITY WHEN HE WENT SOLO.
