Production Notes:
===============
Edit Completed: 5th Sept 2017

Editing of the last two shows in this saga happened throughout 2017, on and off, after I re-recorded a whole bunch of stuff. My main issues were the PAL Vs NTSC thing, and although I could swear Lotus 1 is a full screen PAL game, some people on the internet have recording footage of it with a large blank NTSC border below the game - so much so that I cant trust my memories anymore. So I re-recorded most of these games last year in 2016, in full 4:3, which scales to full screen height with the Auto Scale tool on WinUAE. Hopefully by recording these like this, it shows off these games at their best.

I re-recorded F1GP in January 2017 with the intention of using it, but I found my first rips of the game were actually more interesting to watch. F1GP is presented in the same aspect ratio on both PAL and NTSC machines due to clever coding - so I'm fairly sure F1GP has the small black border you can see in the video. Every step has been taken to present these games in all their glory.

The last thing I did for these videos was record the Super Skidmarks game. I tried 2 or 3 different AGA versions but non of them seemed to be working for me, so instead I found an image of the CD32 version, and recorded that. Not sure if this is what they call The Ultimate version, but it seems to have lots of extra opponents and tracks.

That completes our run-down. Made with love for Amiga driving games. Do leave your comments below.

Bugs
====
I refer to Lotus 2 as Lotus 3 at one point before the rain level.
I say the poll was conducted in 2013 but it was 2014.
There are other bugs which I just noticed but nothing to warrant tearing the video down to fix.

So nice to see F1 Grand Prix with those fps, I couldn't really enjoy it on my Amiga.
And omg I'm so happy to see Stunt Car Racer in the list! This was such a fun game. The sense of dread you got in the big jumps was truly unique.
Glory to the Lotus games!

Fantastic series, Dan!

I spent at least 2 years in total playing Grand Prix. What an incredible simulation considering the tech capabilities of that time.

Some viewers may wonder why I called the list Driving games rather than Racing games. This came about after reviewing Gee Bee Air Rally, which is a racing game but not a driving game. And even in Zool and Superfrog, we are racing against the time to complete the level. There is also Racing as in running track games, like Summer Games, and stuff like Power Drome and Purple Saturn Day, which are rather different as well. There is so much racing action in many games, but not all of those games include driving - which these have in common.

I really enjoyed this series of videos, thanks. The only thing I didn't like is that some of the videos have chapters so you can see what game you're on, and others (including the first one) don't. It's quite inconsistent. Also, I'm going to guess that you're from Wigan, am I right?

It’s nice to see those games in 4:3! I only have a doubt about the aspect ratio of Lotus 2: it is really supposed to be in 4:3?
Or did it have two black bars on top and bottom? I honestly don’t remember how it looked on a monitor/tv back in the days... guess my memories are clouded by the too many widescreen videos of it on youtube...

What racing games fell below 50? maybe you can do a quick round up of all those some time, are you using WinUAE on a PC? I find config it a bit fineky maybe you can do a run down of the setting, I'm running it on my PS vita. Its great having the Amiga in a handled but its a lot of trial and error to get things to work, esp AGA games. I never had a A1200 but a A500 years ago with the extra 512 memory then I got a HD I think it was 40mb! big deal back then. I still have the A500 1.2 Kick rom as my brother installed the 1.3. kickrom.

great Videos Amiga had some classics and Loved F1GP and Lotus games.

Even at the time, the vast majority of 3D racing games on the Amiga were terrible. Most of them suffered from the following:
Terrible frame rate
Mediocre graphics
Poor draw distance
Unconvincing road perspective
A poor sense of speed and vehicle handling
As far as I can tell, the only ones that did a reasonable job of it are the first two Lotus games, Vroom and Super Hang-On.
