You know guys, it’s easy to say that this engine is bad, crap, etc…. Well having owned quite a few makes of cars myself including Bmw, Audi’s etc…, I’m definitely not an expert or mechanic but I can honestly say that they all have their problems which will easily fill an A4 page!! I remember the issue with my bmw 1 series with the 125d engine which needed to have the timing chain replaced which involved an engine out intervention …. So much for great Bmw engineering lol… from experience in the last 13 years, I now own an A5 3, 0 tdi and a Vauxhall Mokka 1.6 cdti (yes very different card indeed) I’ve found them both to be great to own and pretty much faultless. Yes I’ve had egr issues, dpf’s can be a pain in the ass (if possible always try and let your DPF do it’s cycle when it kicks in and you could save yourself a lot of issues!!! If you don’t do many miles, opt for petrol)and the usual wear & tear. Yes at times it’s the luck of the draw and problems happen but ALOT OF THE TIME, problems can be significantly avoided by properly maintaining our cars guys.
Use good premium fuel (especially diesels) . Yes I know it costs money but in the long run it will save you common problems with injectors (I’ve never had injector issues having owned diesel and petrol cars since 2003). Avoid timing belt / chain issues significantly by doing EVERY YEAR your oil change services (forget what manufacturers recommend with stupid mielage intervals) be smart and use quality engine oil and not crap. Personally I’ll do an engine decarb annually and the difference in smoothness, throttle response and mpg is brill helping to keep the engine clean and when little issues occur, get it sorted before it becomes a “bigger issue” . I’m not saying that problems still wont happen but with being careful maintaing your car and being on top of things, you could avoid common issues and keep your engines running for many many miles.

This sound is ok for diesel engines. Go to petrol if you want quiet.

mistake. at 160000km change chain we have to forget about 30000km oil change. unfortunately, opinions are written by those who do not understand it

hello.this clicking sound also happens in my car. It takes 1.2 seconds especially at the first start. Which oil do you use. 5w30 dexos 2 oil is used in turkey. Some people wrote that the sound stopped with 0w40 dexos 2.

My engine is noisy like this, well maintained and drives well on 170k km but sounds bad with a loud ticking/squeaking sound

The resource of this engine is affected by an oil change every 30, 000 operating modes and Euro 6. TSI and HDI are also not durable. Now engines are made not by engineers, but by marketers and environmentalists, their mother
