all jokes aside, in Table Tennis, there is a trick with dropping a cap of water under the table, so players go tap their forefoot (only) on it in between plays.

more recently there is a small little attachment that goes through your shoelace loop with a similar purpose but no water. it has a sticky substance on it.
You can definitely use it on top of your basketball shoes for quick wipes. I never been fan of licking my hands after wiping the bottom of my shoes.

It works if you're slow, but it's if you cut and move a ton. It's like racing tyres, when it gets warmer you really feel the benefits. Absolutely murders the traction later down the line though, definitely make sure that you maintain the rubber so that it doesn't lose too much later

Or use rubbing alcohol (same content in sanitizer) and clean the outsole, same thing, don’t use water as it dries out much slower than alcohol
