Another reason against Michael is that in Daniel 10 he comes to help another (unnamed) angel. So if one angel is not powerful enough to fight against a certain fallen angel, but rather needs help, then how can Michael somehow restrain all the workings of satan for 2000 years? Even if he had help from all the other angels, then who would be left to minister to the saints? This theory totally falls flat. Michael is not all-powerful like God. Only God can restrain all the workings of satan through the Holy Spirit.

I believe that the Holy Spirit as Restrainer is established and prophesied in Genesis: "And the LORD said, *"My Spirit shall not strive with man* forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years." (Gen 6:3 NKJV) I believe the general understanding is the lifespan of an individual human being which just so happens to be 120 at the most, if you look up official age records. Moses (who wrote Genesis) died at 120 years for example. But I believe there is a double meaning because 120 years could also refer to Jubilee years. 120 x 50 just so happens to be 6000! The Holy Spirit restrains or strives with men for 6000 years, then he is taken out of the way.

Paul says, “now ye know” (v. 6). Paul had just explained to them what was restraining the revealing of the Antichrist. He then reiterates, in v. 7-8, that “he” will restrain “until he be taken out out the way. And THEN shall that Wicked be revealed”.

The point being, is that when Paul said, “now ye know”, his audience would have had an understanding from v. 1-5 “what” and whom he was referring to, that is, who was doing the restraining and how he would be “taken out of the way”.

The "what" and whom is "our [the Church] gathering together unto Him [the rapture]" (v. 1). This needed to take place "first" (v.3) and "THEN shall that Wicked be revealed" (v. 8), which will trigger the Day of the Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 6:1-2).

Pastor Andy, today, my pastor taught on Revelation 12. When he got to verse 17, he stated that the church is the "offspring" (NKJV) and proceeded to tell us that we would face persecution and that there was no "escape" coming. I am a pretrib believer, and I also believe that scripture reinforces scripture. My pastor did not contrast or compare any other scripture references, he just made a blanket statement that there was no escaping persecution. I left church very discouraged. Could the "offspring" could be referring to the tribulation saints. I have listened to a lot of studies on Revelation and this is the first time I have heard anyone mention the "offspring" meaning. My study Bible refers to "the rest of the offspring" as the Gentiles, not as the church. Can you shed some light on the subject for me please.
