Can 'Open Cart Surgery' Fix These Broken Castlevania Games?

I received these two copies of Castlevania for NES that weren't working. I'll try to fix them best I can.

I had a copy of Wayne gretzky's hockey that took 5 cleanings with brasso then isoprop to work. I couldn't believe it when it finally fired up. Haven't put it back in the nes since lol

I put my copy of castlevania in just now to calm my paranoia since I never tested it after buying, and it works fine.

14:00 Whenever my mom is visiting and she sees my workbench, she feels compelled/obligated to remind me how many times she had to physically stop me running screaming through the house so she could pry a DIP IC from my bare foot... (After I had knocked it off my dad's workbench in my curiosity and then stepped on it.) 😅
17:30 Ah, see, this is where _my inherent laziness_ would have saved me time and effort versus your thoroughness; Before I ever busted out my FR-301, I would have put a DIP test clip over the ROM and read it out to compare it against the known ROM... In all likelihood, it would have told me the chip's NG. 🙅‍♂

This evening I'm gonna crack open some SameGame SFC carts so I can scavenge their CIC chips...I've got a magicom that needs one. Later I'll come back and pull the SRAM, MAD-1, and 8M Mempak slots.

Long time since I heard anyone say they were using a TV VCR combo I remember they weren't that good at least with the VCR part the tapes would always get stuck or if they had some problem you can never get into the VCR because of the TV sitting on top of it

+1 bottle of Brite Boy sold here. It saved a copy of SNES Tetris 2 that I got off eBay, I swear the thing must've been dropped in a mud puddle at some point, just /caked/ with gunk. Nasty, but it works fine now!

the sad part is, even if you did get it working, it's the PRG0 version of the game which has crashing issue's. any cv1 cart with the white label nintendo seal has that problem...the black label (PRG1) does not...=P probably best just to dumpster them because they were made broken to start with =)

New cartridges should incorporate a hinge system so you can just open the cart fast.
