I am fascinated by the Terracotta Army. There was an exhibit on them at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis several years back. I was very sick at the time, so was unable to go. I’ve been pouting ever since.

There is very heated debate and (valid) criticism about modern China and its politics, but there is no debate on how utterly impressive their accomplishment are, from antiquity to today. They are one of the most interesting cultures that survives to this day.

At least they rewarded that farmer somewhat for finding those!

If you dig up something cool never go tell the government or an archeologist. 😂

I would love to see the terra-cotta army, but that’s an incredibly long and expensive flight!
The weirdest thing we’ve found are lightbulbs. My dad and brother put Christmas lights on one of our trees a few years ago and the idiotic squirrels took them and buried them all over the front and backyard.. we’re still finding them 😂😂

when I went to see them as a kid the tour guide said someone painted themselves brown and stood with the soldiers for a couple hours until closing time and got to stay behind because they weren't noticed. safe to say they had a check on this behaviour after that.

Did you every of those statues actually had colors, but because it got exposed to Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide, the colors/paints quickly faded in a few minutes. That's why some parts are not excavated on purpose because they don't have the technology to maintain the real color/paint of the statues.

My grandfather bought one, which had been smuggled into Hong Kong for about $200 American.
My uncle owns it now, and he claims that it is priceless.

Imagine they activated as soon as we enter the emperor's tomb.

The emperor is also surrounded by a river of liquid mercury so we'll likely never see his tomb, at least not in our lifetime unless someone figures out how to deal with deadly mercury.

I can't compete with a Terra Cotta army, but there was an archaeological dig in my childhood front yard when I was in high school. They found:
1. A care bear figurine (so that's where that went!)
2. My grandpa really did bury his prize bull in the front yard.
3. (When they opened up the dig parameters) a dead body of a fort settler that had gotten locked out during a raid.
