To clear the speakers of water you need to play music at full volume in short bursts, works just fine for me and I've never heard any weird crackling from the speakers.

thank you, this was very informative. I just dropped my iPhone 8 in the bath tub about an hour ago, but grabbed it out immediately and sat it upright. I started panicking because it still worked. the sound was a bit weird. the right speaker was normal but the left one was weird. but seeing this video of you practically swimming with your phone makes me feel relieved to know that my phone is water resistant. it's sitting in a rice bag right now though lol
