I have been listening to this masterpiece for a couple months now. The emotion seeping through the lyrics and instrumental is simply unreal and I'm sure like many other listeners I always yearn for the song to be longer, keep me longer in this ethereal place in my head. Even listening to it on repeat does not help much as there's kind of a built up and no matter how many times you listen to this song it will always feel like it just ends too quickly, you almost feel let down. Even though it pulls you to a rather rough patch of memory lane, it is so soothing and cathartic that you just want to stay there a little longer. It bothered me quite a bit, still I listened to it regularly.
But now, I think this ephemeralness is exactly the point of the song. At least it fits so perfectly with the lyrics and the overall feel and tone of the song. "Hope took me down", a relationship that ended where it should not have ended, or rather where we did not want it to end, never even anticipated it to end, we clung onto hope and hurt ourselves even more. In the same way, you kind of hurt yourself wanting this song to be longer. You become the blindfolded, the deaf, yet again. Realising this, or interpreting the song this way, makes it even more soul-stirring and i can listen to it in a different way and really appreciate the shortness of it. It really feels like part of the whole theme.
This is song is definitely part of my all time favourites and is one of those rare gems that is just art through and through. It makes you feel, it makes you wonder AND it makes you think! How beautiful. For that alone, I will forever be grateful. Thank you Lyves, for your music truly is impeccable, in so many ways even that it always has this otherworldly touch to it. Much love
