I think it needed so much time to release on Android because of the controller support and the lack of updates on most Android phones. I am pretty sure that it is not compatible with most Android devices. It came first for iOS because 1. The App Store is WAY more profitable and the app would get more attention (it was on the news startscreen with the "game of the day" title and 2. it is easier to optimise it for Apple devices.

It would have done more sense if they released a switch-version.
