Zeus put Hope in the box to make sure humans won’t give up and kill themselves. Hope was his greatest evil. This would insure that humans would continue to suffer for eternity just like Prometheus .

What's sad is she's often blamed and vilified but Zeus literally created her to fail. She was made to have such an unnatural level of curiosity and was handed what was in essence a bomb. They specifically designed her to be unable to leave it closed, she is blameless really. 
If she had been a normal, mortal woman who was gifted the box then you could argue that she carries a small amount of the blame for opening the box as her free will was involved (but the box shouldn't have existed in the first place).
Poor Pandora wasn't given a choice as it was truly down to how she was made. She was a tool used in a conflict between two warring Men, and as always Zeus was a HUGE D**K about everything!

Pandora's story has always been intriguing to me. The moral behind this story is very deep. Imagine living in a world without hope. It would be impossible to bear everything in life without breaking inside and out. Love pandora's name too it's very beautiful.

Well historically Pandora means all gifts. Pandora did not get a box. She got a jar. Throughout history, many translate the original text and mistranslated part of the story. Pandora’s story is a very male dominated point of view toward women. Depict women as the one who release all evil to the world yet with a hint of hope for the future. In the Ancient Greek language, womb was described as jar which indirectly saying the gods send Pandora out to cause trouble to man kind by lighting the fire of jealousy, lust, pleasure, madness and etc within them. Yet contain hope within for a future or a better future - another word: children.

I like the way the game God of war handles the Pandora's box story even though I don't really like the way they handle Pandora herself. Zues put all evil thing inside the box and Athena secretly put Hope inside it. When the box was open, all the evil infected the gods themself first and lead them to their destruction, the end of the age of gods. As Olympus fell, the world of Greek also ruined. It's like the original story: when the box is opened, the world is ruined. Finally hope was release and spread among man kind. From that point, man are on their own, no longer being controlled by gods and have to rebuild everything: the start of the age of man. However, poor Pandora....

I have to disagree with the assessment that hope was, or is a good thing. It was included in the box because it is the most dangerous of all. it gives people an unrealistic sense of comfort and placates them rather than spurring them on to action. We mortals have become complacent and are far more willing to spend our time hoping that things can or will get better and precious little time actually doing anything to make things better.
