Little India Singapore | The Most Colorful And Vibrant Community

Little India is a vibrant and culturally rich district located in the eastern part of Singapore's Central Region. As the name suggests, Little India is primarily an ethnic Indian neighborhood, recognized for its distinct identity and lively atmosphere.

Established by the British East India Company, the district became a hub for Indian immigrants who came to work on the serangoon road. Over time, it developed into a bustling neighborhood that celebrates the traditions, cuisines, and experiences of Indian culture in Singapore.

One of the key attractions in Little India is the colourful and bustling Serangoon Road, which is Singapore's main hub for Indian food, shopping, and culture. You'll find a vast array of traditional Indian goods here, including textiles, spices, gold jewelry, and other crafts. The road is also famous for its plethora of eateries serving up mouthwatering Indian dishes, from biryani to dosas.

Several important landmarks can be found in Little India, such as the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, one of the oldest Hindu temples in Singapore, and the Abdul Gaffoor Mosque, a place of worship for the local Muslim community. Another notable feature of the district is the Tekka Centre, a large indoor wet market and food center offering a wide variety of fresh produce, meats, and local hawker food.

Additionally, the district is home to the Mustafa Centre, a 24-hour shopping mall known for its wide array of products and competitive prices, and the City Square Mall, Singapore's first eco-mall.

Each year, Little India is beautifully lit up and decorated for the celebration of Deepavali, the Hindu festival of lights. This is a particularly vibrant and festive time to visit the neighborhood.

Accessible via the Little India and Farrer Park MRT stations, the district is a must-visit for both tourists and locals alike for its cultural richness, delicious food, and bustling markets. Little India is not just a place, it's an experience that truly encapsulates the multicultural spirit of Singapore.

When accessed from Farrer Park Station, City Square Mall, which is directly connected, is a building designed with the theme of a Peranakan shop house.
It’s convenient mall for locals and tourists alike. The mall features a cinema, a gam center, and becomes quite crowded at night!
The area of Little India, where the night never sleeps, stands out distinctly even among Singapore’s neighborhoods.
You took your time walking through such a Little India, and you showed, it to us with captivating visuals and detailed content 👍✨
