I feel like there should be a much bigger difference between the two, other than an eye-scar. The boss should be a little bit larger, it should shoot larger spit rather than just more, and it could be missing a chunk out of it's rear light thing

It'll be cool to later get an ability that let's you burrow under ground a set distance in either direction. Not only will it let you be able to get past obstacles in your way, it'll also be useful for dodging enemy attacks.

There are more indie metroidvania games than hollow knight people( I know it is surprising that there is more than one game in a genre)

People calling this game a hollow knight clone are going to be SHOCKED when they find out about the genre of "metroidvanias"
Of course these games are similar, but hollow knight is the largest thing for the genre since Metroid. part of being a game dev means taking things. Why do you think so many Metroid Vania's had shooting instead of swordfighting?
It's not because it was original, it was because Metroid was so influential it's had an impact on every game in the genre. Now that hollow knight takes that roll, we get similar games.
