GOP Wins Control Of House By Razor-Thin Margin As Chaos Hits Party

NBC News Chief Political Analyst Steve Kornacki joins Ari Melber as NBC News calls the House control for Republicans. Conventional wisdom before this eight day election had the GOP taking it in a “red wave”. That did not happen and now party leaders face an uphill battle.

What Kornacki does is difficult and he talks a lot to make it happen, but everything he says is meaningful and understandable. He's an artist in a niche job that I couldn't do, and I hope he's well paid.

A big difference between the Democrats losing the House and the Republicans losing the Senate is that you probably won't hear as many Dems crying about it, demanding recounts, or just flat out claiming that it was stolen. Hopefully the GOP can learn from this and move forward and leave the maga nonsense behind. There's nothing wrong with the parties having differences of opinion on fiscal matters and other things as long as this great divide starts dwindling and we keep our democracy intact and get along better. Something I learned recently: since 1984, the President's party has always gained House seats in their re-election years. This includes 2020 when the GOP gained seats despite Donald Trump losing re-election. What makes things different this time around? The previous Presidents lost so many House seats in their first midterms and couldn't make it up for it in their re-election years. That's not the case with Biden this year; his party will lose only 9 seats at most. The GOP may have taken the House tonight, but the slim margin of control for them could give Dems a decent chance at reclaiming it in 2024. Of course a lot of things can happen over two years; we don't even know if Biden will be able to run for re-election despite him saying he will
