On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: Much of the nation is breathing a sigh of relief, after the US Senate passed a bill last night preventing a first-ever government default. Meanwhile, speaking in Finland, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reminded the world in stark, tragic terms of the ongoing killing in Ukraine: “Day after day, Russia rains down missiles and drones on Ukrainian apartment buildings, schools, hospitals.” And as the US Senate passed the debt limit spending deal, Economist and Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, Joel Griffith, joins to give his take on the deal and how the markets are responding as they are up more than 400 points at the open. Last week the FDA gave the green light to Elon Musk's company Neuralink to begin human trials. The FDA approval is a milestone for the brain chip company. President of the National Catholic Bioethics Center, Joseph Meaney, joins to talk about the ethical concerns surrounding brain implant devices. Finally this evening, Pope Francis says he supports an initiative to enhance research at Catholic universities regarding family, marriage and child bearing. The project is called The Family Global Compact. EWTN Vatican journalist Matteo Ciofi has more.
