It would be kind of hilarious to use Gale as a nuclear deterrent in npc dialogue situations.

Literally my favourite part of DnD lore is the Netherese empire. Great to see it being shared more broadly now that we're getting hints towards it in BG3. Thanks a bunch for what you do!

I love this subject matter. I think I want a film telling the story of Karsus, humanizing him a bit (a serious film like LotR, not a jokey one like the latest D&D)... showing him trying to fight against fate, but ultimately failing.... though because of him, the world and its future was made better. He realizes all of this at the moment of his death, during an interdimensional conversation with the dying Mystryl, as they both die, but also make peace with each other. Hmmm....

My next D&D campaign is set in the Anauroch desert, with plenty of juicy Netherese secrets to find. BG3 is going to be real distraction though, cannot wait!

Is the image of Karsus @ 5:48 a generic image or is it actually a likeness of Karsus? Because I recognize the image, the same image was used in an old favorite game called Fantasy Empires (1993). Yet I don't remember Karsus playing a role in it.

1372 DR is also the year the Neverwinter Nights game happened! Also, Catti-Brie, one of Drizzt's companions, reincarnated as a Bedine woman of the Desai Tribe named Ruqiah by her present life parents. She fully remembers her past life as Catti-Brie, and married Drizzt, having a half-drow daughter with him, Briennelle Zaharina, who should be three or four years old during Baldur's Gate 3. Oh, and Telamont Tanthul's attempt to help Shar replace Mystra as goddess of magic is told in a novel called "The Herald" by Ed Greenwood, published in December 2014, and the story is set in 1487 DR, before the Second Sundering ended.

Couple of minor things...
The Avatar spell, if I have my information correct here, was technically able to pick from different gods, and it was down to Karsus to pick which god to take the power from. As such, technically the spell could have been able to work had he picked from anyone OTHER than the goddess of magic. Now if that would have helped him or not in the crisis they all faced at that moment is up for debate, but he could have made the spell work had he picked any other god, but it failed because by picking her, it damaged the source of the weave and as such damaged magic itself which caused the whole problem in and of itself.
As for the "reincarnation", while this is technically true, it's also one of the goddess' selected replacements in a mortal form that was selected to take her place. This mortal replacement, after witnessing what happened then chose to alter the rules of magic henceforth. Technically speaking it's not the same person, hence the name change and thinking being slightly different. New goddess, new way of thinking.

Yeah, Wolf! Thanks for keeping the lore series going. Hope you have a great week and kick up some sick moves at your sisters wedding. Wolfpack, best pack!

its not Netheril but Matt Mercer's world had similar empires, and they did a miniseries streamed about how it fell and its some of the best streaming D&D I've ever seen, I love high magical civilizations, give me any story about wizards constructing Project Hubris and all dying as a result, (also Brennan Lee Mulligan is the only storyteller that can make D&D games that consistently make me cry)

You bringing to my attention things I've just read about in passing. Thanks for re kindling my love of the Realms (as Ed Greenwood would say). I feel like I leveled up (gain proficiency in history) listening to these. Thanks Wolf. You are already a Sage! :D

I've been enjoying these lore videos, keep up the good work Wolf!
This one was so cool, the moment of "so that's why there's a desert there" sold it for me.

Thank you! Just now realizing EXU: Calamity’s setting adapts part of this lore to Exandria’s Avalir.

Good stuff man! I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and will no doubt continue to. I've said it before, but you truly have a gift for story-telling, and I am happy to have found your channel. (Thanks to BG3 and Larian Studios!)

You convinced me to not only buy BG3, but also to play 1 and 2 and Icewind Dale. Thank you Wolf! Regardless how well (and I hope very well) the launch goes, I got my money's worth just in Early Access!

(although to others I would recommend waiting for full release, just to be safe!)

Hi Wolf! I really like these lore vids. Id really like to see more, especially ones explaining history of Baldur's Gate. I seem to enjoy watching you play Early Access more than me playing it myself. Keep them coming!
