I went on a music fast, and stopped listening to music for 30 days. It was quite the experience, and I actually really enjoyed it. Consider doing one for yourself!

I like that there is no music played in the video's background.

i noticed my dependence on music when my headphones broke at school. Making it through that day was boring and rough.

I feel like the worst thing is to *always* be on your phone, laptop, or listening to music. A 15-30 minute break every 1-3 hours is very important, without it, your brain ends up needing more and more stimulus throughout the day, and the entertainment you consume becomes less and less entertaining as you slowly numb yourself down with all that stimulus, which actually makes you want *even more* of that stimulus

Or I guess positively stated, going completely offline - not even music, podcast, etc - for 15-30 minutes every 1-3 hours can really improve your mood

I deliberately gone to natural places to enjoy silence and nature sounds. It's a beautiful experience. It brings peace and tranquility. It takes away depression. Seriously more people should try it.

That's so cool that you did that. I might actually start doing stuff without music now.

Wow this seems like such a cool experiment! I really understand how music can sometimes be more distracting than it helps!

Lost my airpod cover a week ago, so I dont have anything to put in my ears. I actually am so much more aware of whats happening around me and thoughts about things in my life comes more clear and constructive

I was addicted to the music and it affected my productivity badly but when I recovered I felt comfortable and peaceful and I don't wanna come back listening to it cuz It's really hard to be moderate and prevent myself from addicting it

I was doing this once for 3 months without even having a "fasting" in my mind.
My inner self told me to stop it for a while, now im at this point again, and I exactly know it will help me again.
After this break period I really started being more focused, relaxed and happier.
Main point is - dont overuse/overdo anything, whether its music, food, sleeping, playing games, social media and so on.

Thanks for the video, I really wanted to know if I was the only one thinking about this.
Nice greets to our fellow melomaniacs, give it a try ;)

Hi Nathaniel. I stumbled across your channel and have just watched this video. I couldn't agree more with all what you're saying on here. I was a walking discography 😁😁 and could memorise hundreds of songs fully. I never thought I would ever stop listening to music completely but here I am two and a half years later :). I just took the decision and had to stick to it because that's what I wanted to do at that time and to be honest, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I never knew I was addicted to music until I realised I couldn't get some of my favourite songs out of my head long after quitting. The last song I listened to before I took the decision still pops up in my mind every now and then. I no longer miss listening to music today and I feel that my heart is at ease. I believe music fills a void in one's heart that is not supposed to be there had it been filled with something more beneficial.

I used to listen to music n whatever the lyrics were I actually ended up feeling and experience that in my life, mostly it was negative. Its mind programming. I just listen to instrumentals or only songs that promote positivity, that too by tuning them to 432hz or 528hz.
Or i listen to meditation tones known as binaurals beats or frequency sounds.

I never listen to music, and haven't really thought about it. I prefer silence. The modern world is so full of sounds already, that I don't need additional noise in my day. I meditate and I'm very positive and optimistic, so I don't need external things to cheer me up or lift my mood. My joy comes from within.

Have a beautiful, silent day, whoever you are reading this.

I like the idea of not listening to music for 30 days, but at the same time i don't know if I could do it 😅. I always listen to music, but I do sometimes find myself in a spot where the music distracts me from getting stuff done and being more clear minded 🎼

I tried this with social media and it’s very similar! Thanks for the upload!

Many times, when I listen to music I get into that mood and my thought process hypes up and when the music ends, my thoughts will never stop and that totally distracted me 😅

i realise that sometimes listening to music is a waste of time. too much of anything is always bad. i would just listen to music in a car and i let my imagination run wild, for an hour or more. i can listen to podcasts in the car instead of listening to music. i think music distracts me from reality too much.

I came here after I had to stop listening to music because I had an inflammation in my ear so I wanted to give it rest.

I play the violin and guitar for years and I listen to music all day, what surprised me after stopping to listen to any music or loud noise was the huge improvement in my mood and mental health in just 3 days I was so in shook because even when something normally would bothered me now it didn't. I was more positive, focused and creative.

I came here to search it up what's it like for others when they stopped listening to music too.

For me now it's been over a week and even tho I can go back to listen to it I choose not to, I like the quiet much more than music, the peace of mind is way more important. If I have to practice I'll make sure it's not more than an hour a day.

If you are trying to fast music you can too. I thought it would be hard but it really isn't at all. And I can't believe am saying this as someone who plays music. But I feel better without it.
