I actually one time made it a project of mine where I looked up the voyager plaque and made an attempt at deciphering it, I was able to get to the part of figuring out the pulsars frequencies as well as hydrogen atom. I have amature level experience in astronomy so I figured if I managed to get some of the message than surely a species capable of space travel as well as being capable of catching a small school bus sized spacecraft going 11 miles a second ahpuld more than be capable of figuring it out

What I’m a bit confused about is, the symbol for the hydrogen atom isn’t universal. How would they recognize it as hydrogen much less a time scale? Unless maybe that’s exactly what an atom of hydrogen looks like?
