New Balance Fresh Foam Zante Pursuit - First Run
Показать описание
I unintentionally and very briefly previewed the New Balance Fresh Foam Zante Pursuit a couple days ago, and I didn't think anyone would notice, but you guys have absolute hawkeyes and have been asking me about this shoe already. But I wanted to make sure I got some road miles in the shoe before I gave any even preliminary thoughts. Today, I took the Zante Pursuit out for my run commute, and because of the icy wintry mix we had, this probably wasn't the best idea.
But conditions aside, I was able to get a good first read on the Zante Pursuit, and this is a very exciting shoe. It has that drop off feel in the forefoot, reminiscent of the Nike Zoom Fly, and like that shoe, the Zante Pursuit definitely wants you to be running the moderate to moderate hard efforts. And it certainly rewards you for your efforts, as the shoe really shines when you are forefoot striking. There is a pleasant amount of road feel, and it's not too cushioned where harder efforts might be muddled with too much softness.
For slower paces, I did find the shoe to be uncomfortable. Maybe it's the 6mm heel drop or an intentional lack of cushioning in the heel, but I felt like I was doing something the shoe didn't like when I was running a bit slower.
Overall, with the road feel and the design, the two shoes that the Zante Pursuit reminds me of are the Kinvara 9 and the Epic React. And probably the best way to describe it is to say it is a mixture of the two. I am looking forward to putting some more miles into the Zante Pursuit, and will be reaching for it for my track days or faster tempo runs.
Thanks for watching! Leave a comment to let me know you stopped by!

Today's charity runner of the day is Tom Collins, who is running the 2019 Chicago Marathon and raising money for the American Cancer Society on behalf of his mother.
I'm looking to donate $10 to a different charity runner every day. If you know someone who is running for charity, let me know in a comment; message me on IG, Twitter, or Facebook; or send me an email. I'd love to donate $5 to their cause and spotlight them on the channel.
