Are you struggling with F2L but acing the beginner’s method? Let me introduce: Zeta-slotting. I came up with this new way of doing F2L, it combines the idea of F2L and the simplicity of the beginner’s method. This way of doing F2L is so simple, anyone can learn Zeta-slotting in 5 minutes, and with a bit of practice, become a SUB-20 SOLVER!! In this video, I will compare Zeta-slotting to other methods, explain why it’s so good and analyze the specs.

Please like this video and subscribe to my channel as this video took more than 10 hours to make!! Comment down below what you think of Zeta-slotting and the video. Thanks for watching!!

IMPORTANT‼️If you want to learn this, please watch the dedicated tutorial video (link in description). The method shown in this video is wrong and outdated, the tutorial video will make the method even easier to learn.

I'm loving this. I'm a Roux solver but I teach many new people, and for the ones who struggle to learn beginner Roux, I now teach them this as their beginner method, doing cross, belt, then bottom corners, then a 4LLL set I made.

Nice! I already know F2L but I will be teaching my son this method since he is really struggling to learn F2L. I believe this is a great step in between since once he gets good at this method he will already know 3 cases of F2L so less for him to learn down the road when he is ready and this should speed up his current beginner method. Thank you for sharing.

Looks like a really great way to make learning full F2L a little more palatable. You can move up to full CFOP in steps without having to take such a big hit in your speed.

This method is awesome. I gave up on f2l but got this in the first try. It is very intuitive vs f2l which is very algorithmic.

As a person who learned advanced F2l, this method is pretty good. It would probably help beginners understand basics of f2l

Woow😮😮 Sooo good. I dont see any reason to not learn this ver f2l. I was looking for this only.😊😊❤❤❤

Funnily enough, keyholing is a building block to pseudoslotting, both of which are used extensively even at sub 10 speeds! Especially for pairs 1-3, since you have an empty slot it may be more ergonomic and efficient to use a keyhole (only to solve corners though).

I've used keyhole methods for a long time, and still use it mixed with block building and full F2L methods which means you can do fast intuitive solving with little or no lookahead.

You're getting a sub man! LITERALLY WHEN I DID THIS I WAS IN JOY BC I DID IT, and also it was not confusing plus i average a 30+ seconds and now it got lower. THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Ive been using this method for a while, and i thought i was the one who only used it

Until i found out this video exists, and now theres a name for it. Very good video

This method is very similar to, but not exactly the same as Edges-First Keyhole. However, Edges-First Keyhole is more efficient and is just as easy to learn for beginners.

This seems like a nice exercise in method development, but i see no reason at all to learn this over f2l.

I am a sub 10 cuber for advice on this method😅
I don't know If you know this technique, but it's called keyhole.
The basic idea is that you turn the d layer for the slots of the corners. The method shown in the video isn't as efficient, as it requires more moves.
Here's an example solve for what I mean:
L F D' L F2 D2 L U L2 U2 F2 R2 F R2 L2 F R2 F R2 F'
x2 y
F B2 D' L F' D2 // cross
Using zeta-slotting ideas and keyhole ideas:
U' L' U L // blue-red edge
R' U R2 U' R' // red-green edge
y U' R' U R // orange-blue edge
D' U R U' R' // orange-blue corner
D' R U R' U' R U R' U' // blue-red corner
D' U2 R U' R' D'// red-green corner
U R U' R' // green-orange edge
R U2 R' U R U R' // green-orange edge
LL (however u like to solve it)

Or you could, like, just learn intuitive CFOP. Yes, maybe technically there's 95 cases, but each case breaks down into smaller sub-triggers that are all intuitive and shift the relative positions/orientations of pieces in useful ways. So you're not really "learning 95 cases" so much as learning how to intuitively make the pieces do what you want. There's only like 4 of these sub-triggers, and they are only *3* moves each, so intuitive FTL wins hands-down there. Your three zeta-slotting cases can be attacked with the same set of sub-triggers, yielding solutions that are identical to yours. So really, you're doing F2L by doing extra work to set up this "belt plus corners on top" situation, and then applying algs to handle the three possible configurations. This is conceptually identical to beginner's method, which has you do extra work to solve the corners, then use algs to handle the different edge orientations. The whole point of learning intuitive F2L is that you don't have to do *any* extra work before forming the pairs. You just form and insert them directly and intuitively. This gets you the lower move-count of "real" CFOP F2L, and also high TPS because you do these sub-triggers *so many times* that you also get really fast at them. I'm all for playing around with different methods, but I don't see any actual benefit to zeta-slotting. It's just a subset of intuitive F2L with some extra steps to force all your pairs to be in the subset of cases that you've chosen to call "zeta-slotting".

F2L is the funnest part about a solve to me. Once i learned advanced F2L i almost felt dumb because it is so simple. PLL and look ahead is my struggle. lots of algs to remember and look ahead is mind blowing to me. Haven't quite got that one down yet. My PB is only 24 seconds.
