It seems the ranking is just about how much you play. Getting champion just means you played a lot during the season. Whether you're in copper or champion you'll be playing against similar opponents. Not a fan, imo it makes ranked feel pointless, getting a high rank used to mean you were getting better, now it just means you played a lot.

So… It’s no longer Ranked, it’s an Extended Participation Award mode.

Guess Silvers can be Diamond playing every day each season.

During the panel they said that there was a "demotion shield" to "prevent you losing rank easily". This suggests that you can rank down with the new system but how that works I didn't know as he doesn't go into detail. League of legends has a demotion shield, I think you have to lose a few matches in a row before you go down a rank

Final Result: we can now truthfully admit rank means nothing. Bad Coppers winning against other bad coppers gonna climb higher than good coppers losing against other good coppers ....unless I'm missing something but this seems like a total possibility in the new system.

So basically there is no more Ranked game mode. They have taken casual game mode (which already tracks your skill level and matches you against same level players) and gave it the current battle pass system to collect rewards. Rank is meant to mean a players position in the region, if you don’t get to see what position you are then how can you have a ‘ranked’ game mode?

I just don't like the idea that a low elo player will have a high elo rank. A silver player shouldn't be able to achieve diamond.

In the current version of the game, I often run into players who are anywhere between bronze and plat 3 that have a 1.3-1.7 KD that are slightly better than players of their own skill but certainly not that much better. I'm referring to a large portion of the playerbase that has boosted KDs from essentially baiting (intentionally or unintentionally) on attack and then never win rounds but also never die as a result. These players will be boosted much higher in the ranks than they're supposed to be because of the personal skill taken into account, however I guess once they start facing real plats they'll either stay there or inevitably get sent back down.

I used to love the feeling of going against a rank that's below me when a year ago it was way above me. It showed me self growth and skill and pushed me.
While still seeing a diamond or champ in my lobby to show me how far I have to grow. But now I'll always go against my own skill never seeing improvement or self growth. :(

well actually old system was broken and did not represent your actual rank. a lot of YouTubers (rip kix) talk about the fact. you either got a good team and go higher in ranked or you solo and end up lowest plat at maximum. so as a lone wolf player, I'm really happy about ranked 2.0

So thinking about this the last couple months, as a player with 3, 000 hours most of which are in ranked and community comp, what is the point of these changes?

If Ranked is designed to be a mode where you can view a badge of sorts, and use it as a measure against a global leaderboard. which is what a ranked mode is in every single other game I know of, this does not accomplish that.

It doesn't work because
1. If you don't lose rank but only mmr, inevitably if you grind the game, you will only reach the top ranks.

2. Mmr was described as a hidden value in other videos ubisoft talked about this system, players should atleast be able to see what skill bracket they are in rather than a nebulous number of "2000". which before was associated with a skill rating.

3.Removes tension from ranked. Instead of players losing mmr because they lost, now they will only lose time. which seems fine, but if there isn't really a reason to care about your rank, then will the only reason to play ranked be to earn cosmetic rewards, rather than to grind your rank which mattered only because "I want to be good, and look good" by hitting diamond. Now you just grind to diamond because you want the alpha pack and weapon charm?

4.Removing the tension has a second effect, removing the fun part of the game for many, many players. A lot of players myself included have no enjoyment of the game in unranked of casual because we don't feel any tension about losing. Ranked gave us that, so did Comp but that's a community thing. Without that tension a lot of players myself included are just not going to enjoy the game anymore. there needs to be risk.

5.Rank means absolutely nothing beyond a win count, if no-one loses rank anymore, inevitably you will hit diamond, now for players like me who want to find similarly skilled players, such as fellow diamonds, now I am going to have to look for their KD? their win rate? their r6tracker mmr which now is very nebulous. when instead I could just have looked at "Oh he's diamond, alright sweet"

common replies I see to this systems critics are as follows:

"It's better to prioritize fun"
But isn't that what you guys had with unranked and casual? Now we have 3 modes with no stakes in it, so now we are alienating the hardcore sweaty player base which for siege being a competitive game, is a LARGE amount of players.

"It's better to lose time than mmr from throwers/cheaters/smurfs"
Instead Ubisoft should just try to fix those issues separately, this is known as "Throwing the baby out with the bathwater" just because there is a small issue in the current system does not mean the entire system must be thrown out.

I do not believe that the current Ranked mode is a good system, I do however think this system is not worse to play, but worse for Ranked, this would be a great system to have running in the background of the entire game, for nothing more than a seasonal progression and reward system for being a dedicated player, that would be great. but as a replacement for Ranked, a mode where you should be placed with people in your skill bracket, fighting to have a shinier badge and having that tension the entire game about losing, this will absolutely kill that experience. and I worry that once players understand the system as a whole, will kill the sweatier player base of the game.

TLDR-
We don't need a third casual mode, you will kill the competitive player base which is one of the largest portion of players for Siege as it is made as a competitive game.

This just sounds like a more complicated version of the Halo 3 1-50 ranking system. You'd gain a ranked point for winning and if you lost you wouldn't lose a point but you wouldn't gain a point either

Do you always gain and lose the same mmr or when u play more matches u don’t get as much mmr?
