Exclusive: Xi Jinping receives the Order of South Africa from President Ramaphosa

On Tuesday morning, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with President Ramaphosa at the presidential palace in Pretoria, as part of his state visit to South Africa. After their meeting, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa presented Xi with the Order of South Africa, which is the highest order and the highest honor that can be bestowed by South Africa on a head of state.

This is a friendship medal and the document states that South Africa values
(1) Fraternal relation with China,
(2) thanks China's historical support for the liberation of South Africa and
(3) partnership in economic cooperation and shared commitment to a just, equitable and inclusive global order

Personally I am moved by the South African leader Cyril Ramaphosa as it amount to a public admission of his value of friendship with Xi. Many world leaders are afraid of upsetting the US and so their friendship with China publicly will be measured and guarded. Ramaphosa told the world he is different and he stated his reasons in the medal certificate.

In recent years I notice the Africans and their leaders are becoming vocal in defending China against the western media smears on China. This behaviour can amount to suicide if they ever have had a need from the US. However I think the COVID has hardened many Africans as even the European allies had difficulty in getting vaccines from the US but China in selling 186 million doses had reserved 80 million vaccines for free donations just to the African people.

I am collecting data whenever I see China involved in building/funding hydro power plant overseas. So far I can find China has helped 18 countries building hydro and half of them are in Africa (Sudan, Mali, Angola, Ethiopia, Zambia, Cote d'Ivoire, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Congo). It is the same for building railways, roads, expressways, bridges, power plants, renewable energy, hospitals, schools, water supply system, economic zones, factories, airports, sport stadiums, parks and clinics where China is making everything affordable and available.
