Athens Greece Night Walk Around Kato Patisia Metro Station. I start this night walk from my AirBnB apartment in Kato Patisia Athens Greece. I walk to the Kato Patisia metro station and take the train. On the way back from the Athens city center, I walk around the neighborhood around Kato Patisia after midnight. I do not get the feeling at all that it is dangerous in Kato Patisia at night. Have a look for yourself and tell me what you think of the area in my Athens Greece night walk.

I used to live in this exact neighborhood. Specifically, the one around the last 5 minutes of the video. I have moved away now due to circumstances out of my control, but looking at this video makes me so nostalgic. Me and my mom would take walks like this at night all the time when I was a kid. I never felt like it was dangerous. Always serene, quiet. The sound of cars passing you by and the breeze that followed them after giving you a bit of a chill in a cold Spring night. Perhaps homely, but I'm biased.
The side streets can look a bit more sketchy, as the second part of the video is on the main avenue/boulevard. I forgot how dark the streets really were here. I'm too spoiled by American streets.
Depending on the day, much like shown in the video, people would sit outside on the sidewalk, usually talking about a match that's going on.
And usually around midnight, if you had left the windows open, you would be awoken by cheers of people that just saw their favourite soccer team win a match.

With this video, I was able to point out where I would usually get haircuts (a barbershop owned by Pakistani immigrants. They always treated me so well, even though they barely spoke Greek. They had this thing where they would playfully slap my head after they were done. It was so funny, kinda like a massage. I never understood the point. My dad would just leave me there and come pick me up 10 minutes later when they were done. I was in good hands :) . )
I can point out where me and mom would get burgers sometimes (The Goody's burger, halfway through the video. The 2nd floor actually has a mini playground and a smoking only area!), where I would get Gyros (Greek taco-like sandwiches). where I would hang out with my friends playing soccer on the street, where all my extended family lived and friends, where the local grocer and where my mom would get discount clothes.
I remember where my dad would get his '99 Ford Focus washed.

Sometime in March (April?) at night, you'd see crowds of people line the streets carrying candles, sometime after Orthodox Church service. They would draw crosses entrances of their homes, as if to bless their homes and protect it from evils. I think the event was highly religious and was named "The night of the Lights" maybe? I was never big into spirituality as a kid.

Ope, I'm rambling. Thank you for this video. It brought memories back. Very fragmented, broken, tiny, happy little memories. You are making me want to visit, but no one I know is actually there anymore. Maybe I'll just take the journey, call it a Mecca of sorts.

Thank you again!

My fathers grew up in Kypseli, I still have family there, I’ve never felt any danger going out at night with my cousins. Nobody ever bothered us, I’ve never felt any danger in Greece. I mean I know there are some “no go areas” but I have no business going to them anyway. I’m looking at your video and people are out and about even at 9:30 which is considered early for Greek standards. But in general Athens is still considered one of the safest European cities.

You're in the wrong neighborhood.. You can probably find cheap airbnb apartments there, but not many Greek people live in the area anymore...

Go to viktōria square metro station and Zefiri suburban railway station, they are the safest in Athens!
