Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott ⛪ [German church song][instrumental]

"A mighty fortress is our God" (German: "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott") is one of the best known hymns by the reformer Martin Luther, a prolific hymnodist. Luther wrote the words and composed the melody sometime between 1527 and 1529. It has been translated into English at least seventy times and also into many other languages. The words are a paraphrase of Psalm 46.

Very cool Dr. Ludwig. As a Catholic, I was wondering if you could put up “Grosser Gott Wir Loben Dich” next time you do a church hymn. I included it when I made a video of that German Catholic Church I visited during the summer and I sent it to you. I unfortunately didn’t know the words to it in English and I would love to know what they were. If you would be able to do that hymn in the future I would very much appreciate it. It’s my favorite church hymn and it makes me remember my grandfather who unfortunately passed away last year. He was almost entirely German and revered his Catholic faith, family, and heritage.

There are a number of Catholic songs which follow a similar melody. 😊 Gott mit Uns Alle! Be it Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant, etc... we are all brothers. Brothers in arms against wokeism. I like this instrumental. Dankeschöne Herr Ludwig! Gott segen dich!

Interesting that there have been more than seventy English translations. I certainly didn't know the one you quote here- the one most usually sung in Britain begins "A safe stronghold our God is still".

Dr. Ludwig, I ask you to genuinely consider receiving Jesus the Christ, Lord of all, through which all of Creation was formed. I know faith is dying in most of Europe and indeed the entire Western world today, but truth is unchanged and does not sway with cultural shift. It was by receiving and accepting Him as rightful King and Lord that vile practices were abolished and man and woman were returned to their natural state as God intended them to be. Infanticide became outlawed. Men were exclusively in union with women. And purity became a virtue. I ask you to pray to God for revelation that He may draw you near Him to reveal the Kingship of His Son, that you may have salvation and ultimately the grace and mercy of God on the day of judgment.
