Bobby was like a computer. Even if you plucked the 1972 Fischer out of time with no prep he would be extremely hard to beat for even the top 5 in the world

Fischer to me was the greatest chess player ever. The Russians dominated the game, there was nobody who was even close to as good as them. And here comes this American kid with nothing to lose. Somehow beat so many minds working together to defeat just him, and not only did he defeat them, he obliterated them until there was no dispute who the best player of his time was. I can’t even fathom how someone like him exists. The only person who’s even comparable to Fischer is morphy, and morphy played in a time where it’s hard to evaluate the strength of players bc of how different the game was. Fischer was so far ahead of everyone else with literally an entire country of chess gms all comparing notes working against him. We will never see it again

USSR (and later Russia) dominated chess from 1948 to 2004. And in that period of time only one person from other country won chess championship, its Bobby Fisher. He crushed soviet chess machine all by himself, he did it alone against all these chess masters. Bobby was so good, true legend. I think Bobby at his peak form he was strongest player of all time.

I am 75 years old. A chess enthusias. A Filipino and forever believer of how great is Bobby Fischer. For me, HE is the greatest player of all time with no engine, so many coaches and just believed in his book and ability.

I am of the opinion that, with the technology we have today, acess to computers and bots, if Bobby had all of these stuff at his disposal, his rating would've been MUCH higher and that is why I honestly consider him the best of all time.
