As a Bob Dylan scholar, it's my duty to tell the world exactly how good each of his albums is. Whether you're just getting into Bob Dylan or already have opinions on all of these albums, you've come to the right place.

To keep the Dylan train coming, so to speak, it’d be awesome to hear some deeper dives into specific albums, where Bob was personally, collaborators, reception, etc. Anyway these lists have been great and much appreciated.

A Bootleg Series tier ranking could be quite beneficial to the Dylanology field. Whatever you do, sir, best of luck to you! God bless!

A Leonard Cohen rank would be great, Joni Mitchell and maybe even Lou Reed would also be swell

Fuming with anger bc you put Time Out of Mind behind Good As I Been To You. I hate this so much. Great video keep em coming

I would love to see you discuss Townes Van Zandt. Album tier lists, deep dives, whatever. I feel he doesn’t get the attention he deserves, his representation here on YouTube being particularly lacking. One of the greatest songwriters of all time, in my humble opinion.

Love the content man, don’t fall into the trap of trying to please the audience. No matter what some people are gonna like it and others aren’t. Do what makes you happy and I hope it continues to bring you success and joy

I have to say Time Out of Mind is my favorite Dylan album and it ranks in my top 3 favorite albums overall. The mood is consistent and the lyrics feel like the most personal and devastating of his career. I also love Bob's voice at this stage of his career. It's so raw and expressive. "Not Dark Yet" and "Standing in the Doorway" are both Top 5 Dylan songs for me. They are longer songs but I never grow tired of them.

Also, I consider Soy Bomb one of his carer highlights. The way he barely bats an eye and then rips a guitar solo - classic.

What I like most about these vids is they inspire me to listen to more Dylan

I love your devotion to Dylan's acoustic cover albums - I love both of them. Great thoughts on this pair being what defines folk music. When Bob was starting off in the 60s he was different than a large chunk of what was viewed as folk music (collegiate singers wearing cardigan sweaters and skirts playing sanitized folk songs). Dylan branched out with original material and kept evolving while becoming a pariah to some of the very group that previously embraced him.

As for his studio output - I share your tier list other than "Time Out of Mind" is is "S" tier for me. I feel is sets the style for much of his remaining original material (yes - I find some future releases preferable to this album).

Congrats on being able to monetize your channel. More Dylan material are obvious - live albums and the bootleg series. Individual song lists per album and decade plus cover material are possibilities. I like tier lists of other artists - especially artists you like. It can backfire if you don't like an artist that is usually praised. There's a YouTube discography ranking channel that has one (or two) contributors that dismissed entire catalogs by artists like Husker Du, PJ Harvey, Bob Marley, and others while praising artists universally panned. It's fine if you recognized, but backfires when you're convinced your opinion is the right opinion. It's all very subjective! (Note: not saying you are this way!).

Very excited to see more content, and I now need to check out your music! Keep it up!

“Time Out Of Mind” behind “Good As I Been” and “world gone wrong” is an insane take but I’m here for it. Some in depth Dylan dives would make for great content.

I agree that Time Out of Mind is a broadly dark record, but Make You Feel My Love seems to be a genuine exception to that.

Ideas for further videos: I agree with others that the bootleg series could be ranked. It could also be fun to do some top-ten lists on themes: top ten funny songs, top ten political songs, top ten cover songs, top ten Dylan sidemen through the years, etc.

Your editing style and personality are both great for this style. Keep it up and apply it to Leonard Cohen, etc, I think you are qualified to do so. Keep up the music as well!

I would personally love to see more of these tier list… perhaps Cohen ?

Also, I love TOOM, I have massive death anxiety so this album kind of feels like it understands me. I know it’s not precisely about that but those negative songs (Tryin’ get to heaven, standing in the doorway and not dark yet) have the feeling… they’re very nice, one of my favorite Dylan albums.

PD:

I’ll take a listen to your music in Spotify

I'd love other tier lists, but I'd be interested then to know which artists/bands do you highly enjoy and feel like you'd want to make tier lists for? Maybe have like a poll up or something? 😁

As i am sure you know as well as anyone, the Dylan core are ready to follow. You are unique, interesting, and substantive in your analysis (and sometimes even right). All that is to say i am not sure if the Dylan material is enough to sustain you, but maybe one a week for ‘prestige’ or ‘love of the game’ would be worth it to you. Personally, my Bob fascination stems from vocals, music, and love songs (versus abstract lyrics analysis and/or conscious sort of themes that brought him to fame), but any analysis into the weeds would be welcome. Breaking down his vocal eras and tiers, for example. Or kind of love songs and successes. Etc., etc. Anyway, well done so far, i look forward to the last 2 (3?) decade tiers and anything that follows Bob-wise.

Oh, yeah! Bob Tier list! And yes, you should expand a bit to other artists. Tier lists, high level reviews of artists, song deep-dives (especially of Dylan)... and we'll think of some more, I'm sure. Also, happy to see the tier reshuffle. AFA Harden, I think the harmonica impacts people's view of the album- so harsh and in your face! But that's the way it is and the songs are great. I just listened to my mono copy and it was great! (Also, I like Self Portrait. I find it enjoyable) Of the 90's albums, Good As I Been to You and World Gone Wrong are severely under-appreciated in his catalogue. Amazing! And I was in High school when Time Out of Mind came out. It got me into Dylan, so I keep it high on the list! At that time in the 90's, we were so beaten down by "Dylan as God" status in society, that many of us in the older teen years largely ignored, although appreciated, his work. This album was a rebirth for many people in my age group who were very aware of Dylan, but grew up in the Nirvana-era.
