I just need to know how to not accidentally throw my racket away.

Totally true guys, I started hitting harder once I stopped wanting to hit hard and let the arm flow.

It's very fortunate that we have this great Coach giving us his valuable experience and knowledge! With few words from him I can enjoy a lot more my time with friends on court. Thanks sir!

Guys this is advice for players who already have some control & their movements are well practiced. If you can release the wrist more on a vertical plane as you swing up first this will help you to still have some racket face control and will teach you how to hit more top spin too! As you practice this more and more the neural pathways will program the movement’s (over the weeks) and stage one is you’ll have more relaxed power & still control. Stage two could be once you have 80% over & in the court to release even more the racket to find that full feeling of throwing it away like Federer 👍. Keep your mind Focused on the result you desire and let go mentally of the few shots that go straight down into the ground & straight into the stratosphere, gradually you’ll work it out and find the right amount of squeeze on the grip and the right amount of release with the wrist.
If you want this power from this technical aspect that professionals use then be patient with yourself, it may take quite a bit of trial & error, but you can do it, and it will make the game even more pleasurable and enhance your feeling of being able to express yourself on court 👊

The best lessons one can get for free! Thank You Patrick! 👊🏼
I’m 72 with two new shoulders and after 25 years I’m finally starting to get back into this wonderful game we love, and unlearning the “old school” strokes, and wow, this technique has made my ground strokes stronger with more ease. I’m happy to pay my local pro for this learning, and glad to see it’s foundational acceptance from one of the very best teachers in the world. A sincere thank you.

I will give it a try, my problem is still type of Grip that I should use for my forehand and how to transition from there to backend naturally

This doesn’t help most intermediate players as they lose control of the ball. This only applies to advanced players with a great understanding of contact point.

It’s these subconscious habits I find my body doing that are so interesting. I remember Jimmy Evert saying to me “ the ball doesn’t care if your nervous, confident, being hit by a beginner or a champion . All it cares about is the force and angle when you make contact and follow through . So watch the ball as you get in to position . Getting in to position and how well you do determines how you strike the ball. When in doubt go back to the fundamentals . He raised five champions, number one in their age group. Two were on the tour and the 3 others all had college scholarships. Chris won a record 90 percent of all her matches played over a 19 yr tour career- highest in history men and women . She just didn’t lose very often to players outside top ten . That would be a great trivia question - what players ranked outside of top 25 ever beat evert once she had played tennis for a living ( after turning pro and was able to keep her prize money).

Federer was the master at this, he always looked so loose and relaxed when hitting and generates crazy speed on his prime

I tried it but the racket flew off my hand and hit my double partner in the head

I feel like crying. I learned in the early 90's and people were still teaching closed stance, no wrist, etc., I wish you were my coach when I was 10!

In contact point You need to grab it a little bit more

It is really true increases the power and ball speed with less effort.
But I am wondering when to starting to use this technique.

Should we use it after having a steady form,
Or
When since beginning?

It is interesting that when I learned to play tennis (which is ages ago) they told me to hold the racket very firmly. Back then I felt that I would loose power and feeling for the ball, but I followed the coaches of course. Incredible. By the way, I really became a fan of your videos and tips and - after a long time of not playing at all - I feel the passion for tennis again.

Learnt this technique by watching Kyrgios and Fed as a teenager, and just messing around with flairy flat shots in training and then it became a thing in my normal ground strokes. Just mess around with it and it will eventually come.

I tried it after my footwork was fixed by my coach and I have to agree it works really well. My shots are way more fluid and the setup time is halved for a heavier shot
