Growth Hormone Secretion

GH is released by somatotrophs in the anterior pituitary. GHRH causes synthesis and release of GH while somatostatin inhibits its release. GH inhibits its own release by negative feedback effect on somatotrophs. IGF-1 which is secreted in response to GH, directly inhibits GH release by suppressing somatotrophs, indirectly it suppress GHRH release or increase secretion of somatostatin both of which in turn inhibits somatotrophs.

either Im dumb but how can it be that a hormone which one could guess from the name, promotes anabolism when the energy in the body at a current state is low (hypoglycemia)?
also if I remember correctly GH supported protein catabolism, except in the liver?
i read the guyton book for GH yet I'm still very confused from it
