Best Trout Bait Powerbait vs. Gulp ( Fishing Uinta Mountain Utah )

There are so many different types of commercially made trout baits. It is always fun to test out different brands and scents against each other. In this video we tested Powerbait corn and garlic scents against Gulp corn nuggets and garlic sent. The fishing was done from the bank with a simple rig to keep it fair. We were fishing in the Mountains of Utah targeting rainbow trout.

Check out our channel for lots of fun adventures with Cookie and the Cowboy-pirate. We love to bank tangle with the local fish.

Cookie sure loves them commercial trout baits so I occasionally humor her with a day using just these baits. Had fun testing a few different types against each other but she bought a whole bunch so I expect I will be doing this test a few times for her. Its nice to have a bride who finds reasons to go fishing.

Nice experiment. I use a power bait mix. It stays soft even when ice fishing for better hook sets. I also use a very small hook and a treble hook disgorger. I have almost no catch and release fish mortality that way. The nuggets actually do float but not if your hook is too big.

They literally feel and look and smell the same. Especially the garlic versions. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are the same but just put an asshairs more worth of scent in the Gulp and charge more.

What I like and have had great success with is this combo on salmon egg hook: 1/2 piece Atlas pink marshmallow (shrimp flavor), 1 pea sized chunk of pink Powerbait, tipped with 1 Pautzke Balls O' Fire Salmon Egg or 1 inch piece of nightcrawler. Works like a charm.
