My Grandma (할머니) from my mom's side always was my favorite. She is full korean, and lived a poor, sad, hard life with her four children, including my mother, and her abusive drug addict husband. Me growing up in the US, we have a language barrier, but even beneath that, she still manages to put a smile on my face. Even when she's exhausted, she always cooks my favorite foods, let's me borrow her stuff, and always takes care of me.

This upcoming holidays, I want to invite her to spend Christmas with me and my sister so she does not spend it alone at her house.

I will never forget what this woman has done for me and what she had been through. Her dedication and love has never stopped for me and there is no amount of gratitude I can give to thank her enough. The future does not say when or if she will pass anytime soon, but I want to remember her as the wonderful person she is. I love you Grandma <3

My parents had a penchant for being cruel for no good reason, and deluding themselves into thinking their actions were perfectly just. My grandmother was the sole reason I could tolerate my adolescence. I miss her. Tell your grandparents that you're proud of them, I constantly wish I could have told any of them before their time was up.
