Omg! My boerboel puppy arrived yesterday, and i was just thinking about how her guard instincts will develop with time, because, by now, she's still fearful. Although she's not a corso, both the breeds are mastiffs, and their sizes and behavior are very similar. Seems like this video was made for me, rsrrsrs. Ps: i just love your channel! My Cane corso is now 13 weeks old He also lives with a 4 yr old Euro Doberman who is 127 lbs. My 13 week old Corso was never ever frightened of anything. He actually is the one that will bark at delivery’s, people walking by front of house, etc. He is definitely protective of his home.

When my pup was almost 4 months old (she is almost 10 months now), 2 pocket petties came out of their yard and came straight towards me and Lucia, my boyfriend and our other dog. Lucia jumped right in front of me and was ready to take them on. Thank goodness no-one, or the dogs were hurt. Being so small and ready to take on the world, it was a sight to see.

This is exactly it, we protect them and guide them through this world as pups so they look to us always. That's how they learn the difference between what spooks them and what is actually a threat. They gotta trust us to keep them from danger enough that they no longer react but remember to look to master for assurance. If there is no assurance they will not be happy and look into why. That is literally the protection instinct, very simple but powerful.

Xena is almost 2 years old now she is finally now guarding the front of the home. She typically was a scarredy cat when I first got her and I had to desensitize her by walking her near the train tracks to get her used to big noises. She doesn't try to run anymore. But still has that scardy cat mentality once we our out of the home.

With my Boxer Bo it was around 1, 5 / 2 years she barked when she heard a sound she did not know and went looking for it!

They are both beautiful and so well turned. Too many people don’t train their dogs at all. Then there are others who don’t know how important training is for a dog of this size. I really don’t think anyone should be able to own certain breeds especially those this large.
