Why is the Green E.T. VHS Tape Worth So Much?

There's a few reasons why people want the Green E.T. VHS tape.

Today We were helping my wife clean up a non-profit building (that is moving) today and they were throwing away boxes of donated stuff nobody wanted. My son was bored and went dumpster diving and pulled out this tape because he knows the movie very well. My wife told him to throw it back but he persisted and stashed it away in my truck. Being of my generation, I thought it was cool myself... so looked it up. Pretty cool, in deed. BTW... the copy he found was still in it's plastic, NM other than a gift tag that read, "To: grandma from: JR" which made us laugh, because she never watched it. The gift tag pealed right off cleanly. I now have this displayed on our entertainment center.

I've got that tape with its cover in my VHS Tape collection, always wondered why it was green. Believe my mom got it from some donation place.

I’ve watched this video several times. My sealed tape matches yours exactly. I’m reluctant to post because I see others that are priced at $10-$20. How can I be sure that mine is the RARE one?

It's not worth anything. Now, cult horror such as Friday the 13th films or rare not released on DVD specials such as Disney's Halloween Treat. They are worth something.

The hologram sticker is on my ET vhs tape.My other ET vhs tapes didnt have the hologram sticker on them???Maybe ur right.I noticed out of all 5 ET vhs tapes i own, only my one ET vhs tape had the hologram sticker on it.Hmmmm i will definitely hold on to my ET vhs tape with the hologram sticker on it.Thanks for all the Information on the Green ET vhs tape!!! 👍👍✌✌😃

If you don't know art or collectables u wouldn't understand why. it is the first edition if another et 2 comes out it realy gonna jump up in price

I have the 2002 DVD, which contains the original version. So no, you don't have to watch the VHS to see the original, unaltered version.
