You give the impression that it's straightforward to install and uninstall DEs when in reality it can really get people into a serious mess which frequently ends in a loss of data and a complete OS reinstall. There are many videos on YT showing in Virtual Box or similar how 'easy' it is(?) and not on actual hardware on a working system.
I don't know why experienced Linux users do this, as in reality they know very well how destructive this process can be.
I think some people are at best mischievous and at worst malicious.
