Female janitor here. No there is always ONE bag that gets taken out at least once a day. It is In fact super Grimey to expect someone to pick it up and toss it with barehands.

As an ex janitor i can say that this isn't true. At least not for the buildings ive cleaned. Those bags are to be removed by the janitors, not the public.

Im so confused... in Australia the sanitary bin is double flapped so you can't see in and you have to hire specific cleaners to clean them. They go through sanitary training and have higher regulations. No ordinary cleaner or staff member cleans it. The sanitary bins are mandatory in all female public and workplace bathrooms.

No this is in fact the actual correct way to do this coming from someone who used to order the supplies for a store but not a lot of people know this bc 1) it’s only ever stocked with 1 and 2) usually a man orders the supplies so they also have no idea about this but I swear this is in fact true

Story time! Once I was at the movies and I went to the bathroom and the stall I picked had that little tin thingy open and someone left a used tampon there and decided to just NOT close the lid. Like hunny it’s not that hard people don’t need to see your used period products 🤢

That’s wild the ones in England sit on the floor and are big plastic bin with a bucket section that you lift up put it in and then close the lid and it falls into the bin so you don’t see any others. That is immensely gross 🤢

In Germany, it's common practice to use the provided sanitary bags for menstrual products. These bags often even have instructions printed on them, requesting users to place their used products inside before disposing them in a garbage bin. This may be differnt in other countries but in my experience i never had to dig through other peoples menstrual products to get a bag :) hope this helps
