A 'goth mum' vlog with Lady Amaranth, featuring butterflies (which are totally goth), unsettling medical history, and too much pizza.

I did a brief search and you were correct about the Slavic associations with vampires and butterflies. There's also an Aztec death goddess who is a butterfly, Ītzpāpalōtl, so more goth butterfly associations.

In Spain, There's a Species of Butterfly that Drinks the Blood of Freshly Dead Animals. It's Called the Madrilenial Butterfly.

As a goth and biologist who's enjoyed reading a Shakespeare's play today, I am delighted your vlog ended up being my curiosity cabinet. 💀

I love these types of videos.

You're out and about, being yourself, and exposing us (your viewers) to what the world has to offer. A day in the life of a Goth. I prefer these over haul videos and makeup/style videos. These make you stand out among the influx of superficial content that most "goth influencers" are releasing these days.

In Slavic vampire folklore, vampires can sometimes appear as butterflies, which may reflect an earlier belief that butterflies symbolize departed souls.

2:30 That's some kind of Nepenthes, also known as pitcher plant. It's a carnivorous plant. :) I love them. I have a Nepenthes Gaya myself which is one of the easiest ones to care for. When it's happy it sprouts those pitchers which contains a sap that intoxicates insects, causing them to fall in. Inside the pitchers are fine hair facing downwards that prevents the insect from climbing out.

The way you film shows your poetic perspective of things and I love it

2:30 You’ll be pleased to learn that these are pitcher plants, a type of carnivorous plant. These appear to be nepenthes. Pitcher plants produce a sweet smell to lure insects in and then slowly digest them. The insects provide them with the nitrogen that is usually lacking in their native soil.

Oh I am so happy to see you doing so well and being just as lovely as ever. I've been watching for about a decade, and you are always just so refreshing from all the nonsense in the world ❤

I don’t know why I was getting flashbacks to that viral video of the Irish family trying to get the bat out of their house 😂

Medical history is morbidly interesting! I assume you've been to the Surgeons' Hall in Edinburgh? The gallery of preserved organs in jars is weirdly fascinating
