I am completely baffled ! How could the police think it was her little sister knowing there was semen on her body ?!?! Make it make sense. Aren’t they supposed to profile the criminal according to the scene ? It was clearly a sexual motivated crime not a sibling rivalry type of crime. It’s only by pure luck that Jodie didn’t enter the grandparents house while the perpetuator was killing her sister, it’s a miracle otherwise maybe she would have lost her life as well. As for the public, not being emotional is absolutely NOT proof of someone being their sisters murderer. She was most likely traumatized by the events, by the crime scene, even survivors guilt ! This poor 13 year old was scrutinized while most likely suffering from such traumatic event. As for the mothers doubt, I believe that shows us the amount of pressure and manipulation used by the police while interrogating. I am not surprise by the amount of cases with innocent people saying they’re guilty just to stop the interrogation. Of course pressure helps when the suspect is the real killer. But how was it possible to interrogate a thirteen year old (treating her as a suspect) all without proof and trying to persuade the mother she’s guilty. Like there was no indication or proof. No bloody clothes, no fingerprints in the weapon, and most of all proof of a male suspect in scene with the freaking semen. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ can’t get over the fact that Jodie has to endure that through life besides dealing with the tragic death of her sister 💔 she’s so strong to deal with all that on national television and brave to speak up.

Edit : i just checked on the dr phill interview, the daughter of the towns former police captain was the one making claims, she comes up with the most ridiculous reasons as to why she believes Jodie killer her sister. She’s just an attention seeking woman. She even says Reesa came up to her on a dream seeking for justice and hinting it was her sister. Lord this woman is infuriating.

"Showing no emotion" sounds like shock. Some people, somehow, don't understand this.

I show no emotion when I lose people because my brain just mostly can't process the pain because of the shit I've experienced. That poor girl was in shock. The way that people can be so cruel just because people grieve differently is so messed up

There were 3 things found at the crime scene that would not include a Caucasian, female, child. i e her 13 year old sister. Semen, African American hair, and the viciousness. Non of those fits the description of a white 13 year old teenage girl. So sad and ridiculous!

The police knew from the start that a MAN had assaulted & murdered her! Why on earth did they jump to the conclusion that the sister was involved, JUST because she didn’t cry at her sisters funeral?!!?

I sat through my beloved brothers funeral without crying. Just breathing felt like it took all of my energy! It wasn’t until they played my brothers favourite song that I collapsed & the tears came.

Some people have watched too many Hollywood movies!! 🙄

Im 10 minutes in.... after hearing you say Afro American hairs were found on her, and the profile stated they were suspecting a white male? And also her 13 yo sister? With sperm on the victim's leg?? I feel for Jodi, just WOW.

I was born less than a decade later, raised about a minutes drive away from that house and didn't hear about this case until 2014 while going through newspaper archives. It's often talked about how cases like this haunt a small community forever, but this case just showed me how horribly fast a community can seemingly move on.

Wait a minute. Seminal fluid was found on her body yet the little sister was named as the killer? Brilliant!

I'm from North Carolina, and I have lived in, and around Salisbury. The police is a joke. The town and surrounding area is low income, and drug riddled. The fact that Jodie's mother doubted her is sad. Her mother had no excuse to do so.

Absolutely heartbreaking for Jodi! So glad her name has finally been cleared!

I know this one Brooke. They dragged her through the mud, I felt for her. She wasn't allowed to mourn her sister because of those baseless accusations.

Even Jodies own mother was doubtful about her daughters innocence for a while... this is heart-breaking. As if it wasn't enough to deal with such a terrible trauma, people in her position have the press, social media etc. and even (in this case) parts of their own family against them.
@Jodie Trexler: If you should read this by any chance: We love you! ❤
@Brooke: Thank you so much for your special way of telling, that is empathic and analytic at the same time. This is really rare. So glad to have found your precious little channel ❤

I've never heard of this case either. It is horrible that they thought a younger girl would kill their older sister. Yes, it happens, but it's very rare. I don't understand why cops in the past wouldn't do all they could to dispel these harmful rumors & myths.

It enrages me, how certain humans are so quick to jump on the bandwagon and blame an individual for something as horrible as MURDER, even in the face of impossibility. It is worse when it is the local yocal cops that get it wrong, because it makes it easier for the not so savvy townspeople to believe it. I can't imagine what it would be like to suffer blame for such absurd rumors. Those cops make me sick!

Blood line detectives covers cases like this. They did one on "little miss nobody". "Little miss nobody" is a cold case from 1960. A 4 year old girl was found half buried in the Arizona desert. In 2020 she was identified by her nephews DNA. She was found to be Cheryl Vasquez. Who went missing from New Mexico in 1960. Cheryl Vasquez was abducted from her front yard where she was playing with her four other siblings. The 4 year old was approached by a man and a woman in a car with three other children in the back seat. She was called by name and offered candy. The 4 year old little girl innocently claimed into the back of the automobile. Little Miss nobody was found in the Arizona desert 10 days later. Cheryl Vasquez was adopted murdered and buried in the Arizona desert within 10 days. Her case is still cool. She has never gotten justice and nobody knows what happened to the three other children in the back of the car.

It makes me angry that a little girl's life was ruined by false accusation even though there was extremely obvious evidence that it was a man 😡

It is simply disgusting. Wish no such case ever happened. I wish there are no sorrows in the world

A case that was just recently solved that was over 30 years is the death of Gretchen Harrington in Delaware County, PA. I grew up here and this case has haunted our community for 3 decades and to find that it was a church minister at the time that killed her. Thanks ~Krista

Imagine having the remains of a deceased loved one being exhumed to test in connection to an unsolved murder. That is wild.
