Knowing that there are black people in various rural parts of Japan and not just the large cities is so comforting to me.

Agree. I am living in a very rural part of Japan, and I learnt so much Japanese language and cultures in a month than a year in Tokyo/Osaka.

The funny thing is, Nagoya is a major city but it feels provincial compared to Tokyo and Osaka.

People need to understand that there is racism everywhere. Look at Japan's history. They were almost never tolerant of other races. It's why I just roll my eyes when weebs say that Japan is a "peaceful utopia" just because they like anime. Aside from their anti blackness, xenophobia and nazi ideologies, their leniency to predators is astounding.

From all the blk YouTubers who live/lived in Japan, they say that going to a rural area is a bad idea. B/c there were more issues as far as being blk there.

This was my way to learn English. Friends went to popular places and ended up speaking their language because even I come from a small country so many of us go to this places. So I went to Columbia, South Carolina. Nobody spoke my language and I had to learn English very quickly.

It's funny seeing other Americans in different countries, black or white. Everybody is so suddenly friendly lmao....Bring that friendliness back home to America

He’s right stay off the beaten path! Be a pioneer, and the opposite of “birds of a feather flock together’. Some people of different nations like to see foreigners attempt to assimilate to their language, customs and society! And they will offer their assistance if you’re a sincere person!

😮am never coming there thought it was worth my time. Thanks

This concept can also apply in other countries.

There is resentment against Americans by some Japanease. It all depends on where you go. You could possibly encounter hostility in some places due to the behaviors of other Americans in the past. Also, there is understandably some resentment over the war in a lot of the older Japanease.

This advice is mid. Tokyo is huge and tokyo dialect is literally the standard across japan. This is like telling people don't go to california or new york because it's not american enough. Why suggest people go to the countryside if they aren't into that kind of life?
