Is Iso's Ultimate Even An Advantage?

Iso Ultimate 1v1s is actually pretty hard to do properly, and people often wonder if it's actually beneficial for Iso or not. So in this video, I'm going to try to break that down and try to help us figure out just how to play iso 1v1s and also how to win against iso if you ever get ulted!

This is interesting because in the most recent (t2) pro play that Iso was picked, the Iso stayed entirely still in every single ult, essentially turning the ult into the Range.

Schrödinger's Iso, as a Valorant experiment, states that if you seal an Iso and an enemy player in an Iso ult with one eventually being killed, you won't know if the enemy player is pushing left or right until the walls come down. So, until the walls come down and the enemy player is observed, the enemy player is simultaneously peeking left, and right side.

2:25 blew my mind! the iso can only peek you from the center at the start, and i would add that it's almost certain that they can only peek you from the opposite barrier (e.g if you swing left, they can only really see you if they peek from the right barrier, since they would have to expose themselves to both angles if they peeked from the left barrier)

ISO ult is fun imo. Not only puts you in a 1v1 but no matter if you are one shot or not, you will have a fair 1v1 unless you are having a eco round

i dont see anyone talking about first using double tap and getting a shield and then ulting after. entering your iso ult with a shield on you gives you a tremendous advantage while also boosting your confidence and diminishing the one that the enemy might have. They get scared because you have a shield and panic, making wrong decisions. You dont panic because you are confident with the shield. And after covering everything else said in this video, if your mechanical skill is fine, you have a really great chance of winning the ult duel. Im no radiant of course, but even in low immortal lobbies this has worked in my favor, so i can assume that with ranks below that this only gets better

I think theres a fourth option for the iso, walking backwards enough to leave a tiny gap in his walls and the enemies wall so you see which side theyre crossing, then adjust depending on the situation

iso's ult is more than a 1v1, I've won so many games with iso just by using the ult to prevent the spike from def and even asking other teammate to camp on enemy's point in possible cases

Loved seeing this. I’ve been labbing out only ISO moving away from Kayo and I love how we both have the same thought process of seeing what works and what doesn’t.
Starting with holding one side then you get Ferrari peeked, then you move to one side (I always go right 😂) and I found my most success there shift walking so it was nice to see we do the same shit.
I also find sometimes if the enemy is peeking me on right side I’ll hide then swing again as the wall falls, which tends to make them whiff as they expect me to be behind wall. Great video!

I knew that iso needed to be silent at the start, but didnt know about pulling out the knife and didnt know about silent swinging after hiding behind the walls. Very informative 10/10 video :D

I only think of it as an advantage because you dictate the conditions of when you are going to ult and who. It is an even fight, but psychologically being in a Iso ult is like the enemy hunting you while you are the prey. In addition the extra shield in the new update makes it an even greater advantage.

What would be interesting is to see some statistics on it. For example:

What are win percentages for both parties?
What side to both parties tend to swing? Maybe there is a correlation between dominant hand and swing side.
How many Iso ults against eco weapons are won?

This is really funny because as soon as I was ulted for the first time, I immediately realised how strong it is to pick a side and clear in the same direction. I win almost every time I'm Iso ulted, and I lose far more when I'm the one ulting
