The worst people believe their worldview has been validated, while the best people are uncertain, scared, and angry. But we have to stay focused on the menace, including the threat to officials Trump may target for revenge—and the immigrants whose cheap and willing labor helped build our economy. Jon Lovett joins Tim Miller for a special crosspost with the "Lovett or Leave It" pod.

No, guys, what you are doing in talking this out is NOT pointless!!! You're helping us articulate what we're trying to work through.

As a black female whose grandfather was freed by the emancipation in Tennessee as a young boy and walked to Alabama and grew up there. Please don't give up. My ancestors have fought and lost too much blood in this country, for this country. Rest for a time, recuperate. But get back up and fight. Blacks have been fighting for centuries now.

Don't give up, Tim. We really need a supportive community for the next 4 years. And you're an important part of it.

How do you not understand that deporting illegal immigrants is not anti-immigrant? It’s like claiming that arresting shoplifters is anti-shopper.

For what it's worth, this has been my favorite post election conversation I've heard anywhere. Thank you both.

I never comment on podcasts. But this touched me deeply. The resolve that Jon referenced in historical context mattered. But your combined sensitivity gives me great strength in knowing I have fought for all the right things. We shall rise again.

I’m grateful to both of you men. Thank you for keeping this conversation going. As a 61 year old gay man who was part of ACT UP in the 90s, lived through AIDS, Regan, Bush, and the rest. I am deeply unsettled by this election. I cling to the hope I felt with Bill Clinton, Obama, Hillary and Harris and believe the world will change again. Right now, it feels dark.

Tim, this hour was priceless. You both are beautiful souls and there's absolutely nothing to do now but keep putting one foot in front of the other. Thank you for everything.

This was therapy for me. Seeing two Americans of different political backgrounds grieving for their country together gives me hope for our shared future.

Thank you, Jon, for referencing Reconstruction. So much of the shared history of our country has been swept under the rug.

You guys, I don't think you realize how much I appreciate this conversation right now.

I'll be damned if Jon Lovett isn't the rock of wisdom and vision that we all need right now.

What frightens me the most is that I don't know people I thought I knew. People claim to be Christian but they behave completely the opposite. No empathy or compassion for mankind. It just feels like a very cruel world we live in. I'm still grieving and I'm unsure of what's to come.

This was such a good conversation. Cathartic, honest, real. Taking a big step back and saying the quiet parts out loud. 👍🏼

Your work is not for nothing. You're helping us process. And when nothing else can be done, standing up in public and saying "this is not OK" is important.

I'm 75. I remember when Reagan came to town Homelessness swept the nation. Shysters were all over the place. The steel belt had become the rust belt. The tide was on its way out, & the chickens had come home to roost. Yet some people still feel this was America at its finest

I'm crying with you. I'm a 72 y/o woman and was hoping for a more joyful few years ahead. Im devastated. I've been sick for a week.
