I am a Floridian. I have lived through hurricane Andrew. Get hurricane shutters when you can. A whole house generator when you can. Get non perishables, water, flashlights, batteries. Prepare as much as you can and pray. Do everything you can do. Your life is the most important thing. My son just lost his home with hurricane Helene. But I still have him. Everything can be replaced except a life. Be safe, have cash on hand, that is all you can do.

It is said to use your dry dishwasher to protect valuables in case of potential floods. It's water tight. Place important documents in Ziploc bags and store safely inside the dishwasher.

What freaks me out about flooding in Florida is the potential for gators, snakes, etc. to be floating down your street!

As a New Orleans native this is a regular drill. Take everything outdoors and move to indoors. Clean bathtubs and fill with water so that you have water to flush the toilets. Pickup bread, peanut butter and snacks our power is also underground but we still lose power ( we suspect they shut it down to protect the grid). If you can put both cars in the garage, something as simple as my neighbors siding damaged the paint on my car in a category 1 ( Ida). Praying for Florida❤

fill up ziplock bags with water and lay them flat in freezer to insulate food so it stays longer if you do lose power

It’s a good idea to take copies of your important papers and policies and keep them with friends or relatives in another state.

You can put tape on windows so it doesn’t blow glass in or helps break up incase wind breaks windows

It’s not THAT the wind will be blowing, but WHAT the wind will be blowing. Maybe get your patio furniture inside?

I don't like posting negatively and this isn't really as it is coming from a caring place, but i would have rather you got yourself and Casey sorted and the house ready for Milton than show the parks. Yours and Caseys safety means more and id like to know you have enough food, water and the house is sorted well in advance.

I've never lived in the path of a hurricane but getting fuel for your car would seem a natural and obvious thing to do. But maybe that's just me.

Hey Kyle I'm a fan, but it feels so dystopian that you are checking christmas stuff when tomorrow probably hundreds of people won't have a home

Most important is to have cash lots of water non-perishable items flashlights batteries candles if you have a grill make sure you have propane so you can cook if you lose power and just in case you might want to take both vehicles to a parking structure and park them as high as you can just in case there is flooding you also might want to get some sand bags to put in front of your garage door and your back patio door stay safe

Put all the outdoor decorations and furniture inside. Clean and fill your tub. Stock up on water, non perishable food, batteries, and charge everything.
You may want to invest in hurricane shutters and a generator. I would have a spot secured with your important paperwork and an idea of what you need if you did have to leave your home quickly.
Hoping the storm weakens especially for those in the coast🙏

Take pictures of everything inside and outside of your house before and after the storm for insurance purposes.. put all important documents (birth certificate, social security card, insurance documents) inside a water proof sealed bag ..

Hi Kyle, I’m a loss adjuster specialising in hurricanes. Document all damage in photos if you have it and check with your insurance provider before removing anything that they are happy for items to be removed. Provide quotes from at least 2 companies for any damage. Stay safe

We are near Tampa but we have hurricane shutters and they are up. Take in anything that can become airborne. Everything will be ok

Fill your bathtub up with water. You can even fill your washer up with water as well.

You may lose power because the electrical grid feeding the whole whole area may go down. Be prepared!

Why are a lot of people getting meat and milk in the grocery store. From my experience during hurricane Helene that should be the least thing that people have to worry about during a powerful storm since they might not have power and probably throw their refrigerated food away. My best bet is to get bread lunch meat and a lot of canned good items plus water to have during the storm.

This is a case of a podcaster documenting far more than is necessary. Perhaps he should've evacuated a day or two earlier. Decades ago when I lived in Jacksonville, my husband and I evacuated to Gainsville, FL just on our own common sense, there wasn't even an evacuation mandate going on. We lived by the safe-not sorry mantra.

Not sure if anyone mentioned or not but if you can get a drone for future use would be awesome for you to be able to see before and after of the roof for insurance. Also, better to be safe than sorry and get the roof checked (and a good generator to run a garage fridge just in case) 👍
