Inspiring and authentic, thanks for sharing, William. I too started my career at TWS - this led to managing construction projects across the globe and in turn executive leadership for a global construction company.

Keep Burning…

Remember potential students. Welding is only one job in the welding related industry. U can start out welding as so many of us did and than become fitters if ur aptitude is willing and people see a potential in you for it. Most supervisors in any shop were previously fitters. 90% or more.

There's also weld inspector, and fitup inspector positions. All these positions generally start with someone welding getting some experience and than branching out. If ur going to fit something or inspect it than u need to be able to do it urself or Atleast understand what's right and wrong. In Tulsa Oklahoma I started out welding in April 2018 welding. Straight out of school I passed my 3g x-ray flux root flux fill with carbon cutting the back side than fill. I was welding pressure vessels making 15 an hr. 6 months in the senior fitter needed a helper cause the projects we do are massive for Oklahoma. Some projects weight 400k lbs and are 125 ft long with the cylinder diameter up to 25ft on some of the shorter projects. Within a 6 months of helping I broke out on my own. I was underpaid at first. Than 2 years in I was at 21$ an hr still under paid. 3.5 years in we slowed down cause of Covid B's so I started moonlighting at another company where I was getting paid $24 an hr for weekend work. Than I moved there full time. Which is where I'm at now and I've already been told I've got another raise coming. Do what u like to do and do what ur good at. I can weld better than most. But I can fit better and keyword faster than most. Stay working like ur working for a raise and ul stay progressing that doesn't mean working to death. Than just means u show up 15 mins early every day to prevent bn late and to be ready to work when the buzzer goes off and that helps to get u in with the bosses. 💯 Do work son!
