From my experience, nearly every girl I have dated kissed me first, and I often see in fictional media that guys that make the first kiss get rejected by the girl in one way or another, which has led me to my gentleman's code of "You wait for the girl to kiss you first to know it's okay to kiss back. Make a move too soon and you will make them really uncomfortable so it's pretty much game over. You are just another guy to them. You need to build the relationship first before any intimacy."
I understand that some girls want the guy to make the first move and I have seen guys making that first kiss work in fiction and reality. It's just a shame that not everyone gets the same experiences and opportunities to try out dating and relationship building in order to build their confidence in making those bigger moves.

*As someone who's never had her first kiss (but do be reading those romances):*

I feel like for younger people asking consent before kissing is what you should do (teens to 21)

But for older people you can just do it (20+)

Cuz younger people *usually* give mixed feeling while older people *usually* are very clear.

But like dont just go up to a stranger and start kissing them bcuz they're ✨️of age✨️ 🤨 you need some prior relationship and that's why i wont kiss someone on the first date unless I'm 18-21
