Him trying to avoid saying “not a lot”

He is a genius in any field apart from children and psychology. His answer clearly shows, he does not take responsible and treats children as adults. It is the adults who determine how childrenn will react and answer. Of course, children will answer with "no" on an abstract question if they want to spend more time. Assuming parents previously did something in the past the children liked, they will ask on their own "can we do x or y again". If parents spend time on ideas and childrens activities and know their children and have a feeling for what they enjoy - and then ask "do you want to do xyz?" they are more likely to answer with "yes" then by just asking in general "do you want to spend more time with me".The behaviour of parents influences the answer of a child. If they enjoy spending time they will want to spend more time with parents . If they notice, they are not mentally there, distracted, checkig mails, answering calls, they will feel they are worthless and also do not want to spend more time with them. Children feel if an adults is honestly interested in them and having fun with them or not. Some parents believe it is a radom factor how children develop and it was all based on their genes outside of their influence. Children need role models and parents are usually their role models in the early childhood development - not staff paid by their parents or random and changing people you can not build a relatioship on - which then causes relationship issues in their own life when they are adults. "One is just a baby" sounds like "you can not spend time with a a baby" - babies require most time and attention and it helps the mother too, if dads take on an active role and it can only be benefitial for the parent-child relationship but also all relationships the children will have as adults with other people. Having a busy, rich dad most be like growing up without a dad - maybe even worse as you grow up with the feeling you have a dad but he is too busy for you.

When he said the kids came over… that says it all. 😢

In one interview his ex-wife said on their first date all he did was talk about cars, a common trait of Asperger’s (which he’s been diagnosed with) is talking non-stop about your favorite interest. I’m guessing his conversations with his kids are the same, basically just about his company.

I remember when he said "the woman that wants to marry me has to be aware that I only will see her once a week and only for 2 hours!

I don’t have 6 kids but I get what he’s saying. Getting my kids to spend time with me is like pulling wisdom teeth with pliers.

6 kids with different moms. The teens struggle with depression and one doesn't talk to him. I'm guessing he is not super involved.

I like Elon because he is very honest about himself to where he is even uncomfortable about his honesty.

Of course they don't want to spend any time with him. They resent him for not being there

tbh as a 15 year old, i can say, my dad has been nothing but VERY present in my life and with confidence i can say, i don’t like spending as much time with him as i used to, he’s not an absent father, his answer makes sense

my father is a nuclear physicist, close to a genius. His mind is so far more advanced than the regular person but his philosophy on woman, family and kids is not the best at all. He's still my father, I still love him and I understand how strange he is. I get him, he's not the typical person and that's ok. Now that I'm 45, we get closer and closer because I'm probably the only person that gets him and tolerates him... I also tell him to shut the fxxx up lol, and we laugh so much. It's ok, not everyone is meant to be a perfect father and that's cool too

As the kids get older you will see them clinging on more and more, right now all they are doing is exploring their freedom.. all of us usually run back to mom and dad even if it’s just for a coffee

As a teen I wanted zero time with my parents. Lol my mom had a melt down because she didn’t see me at all as I would only come home to sleep for a long time.

It’s okay. Kinds before 10 years of age need their parents in their lives. After ~10 priorities shifts.

Imagine when they get in trouble....Dad says " if you don't straighten up, I'm going to strap you to a rocket and launch you to space ".
