Minnesota's Metrodome was a weird place.

Minnesota's Metrodome hosted both football and baseball, but also monster trucks, Hmong new year, the AIDs quilt, and more. In 2010, snow brought down the Metrodome. RIP.

I was lucky enough to work security at the dome in the early 90s. I got to work the Super Bowl, final four, Metallica & Guns N Roses. But hands down my best metronome moment came around midnight with no one in the stands. I worked overnight at the dome after the Twins won in 91. Standing on the pitchers mound I was overwhelmed by the experience. Literally a couple hours ago the eyes of the world were on the spot where I was. I could still feel electricity in the quiet and semi dark.

I have to admit I have never felt happier or more at peace then I did for the 30 or so minutes I spent on the field my hero's just won it all on



And then there's the football team... Never felt anything but let down by the purple and gold

I wish my school competed in comps for marching band but we didn’t have one in 2005 and this was my first year of marching would’ve been a good feeling, but standing on the 25 yard line having Jumbotron and seats all around me in the US bank stadium was still a dream that I had.

They didn't build Air Conditioning into the original structure and had to add it in 1983. They didn't think they needed air conditioning and they found out the hard way.

I still remember the dome. It was great. And roller dome was a blast in the winter time. I refuse to ever go to US bank stadium though because of the Vikings demanding tax money be used to build it. How dare a bunch of millionaires demand tax money to build a stadium for them to play games in, and charge us a fortune to watch, when the dome existed and was super cool.

I will never understand even to this day, who thought or why they thought using what is basically a 500 pound air mattress as a roof was a good idea
